yep  cant trust the Saints.

They will make the 8 though. Their fixture couldnt of been better if Lyon drafted it himself. Later on they cop a rough patch of travelling for a month then a huge run of Marvel games at the back end.  No cattery game either.

Essendon and Collingwood are going to be knackered after Tuesday.

Dees better be on their game tonight. No stuffing about. Grind out a decent win.

Tom Boyd was in the same situation:  pick 1, left his drafting club to return home on a mega contract.

He didn't get booed by other clubs but still left the game far too early, depressed and disillusioned.

I hope this doesn’t happen to Jackson.
JHF is performing to the level we all expected him to. Boyd didn’t except for that Grand Final game. Very eerily similar to Jackson.

Um that was woke mate and rightly so. A complete oversight by myself, adult add and pre coffee post.  Apologies to all especially the great female posters .

Thanks for pointing it out, and at the risk of sounding Woke, being woke isn't a negative thing, as ironic as this sentence is.

Which makes me scratch my head at Floridas governor ( the one vying for the Usa's top job) stating.."I declare a war on Woke".

God forbid Florida has people doing and saying what's right.

If you're going for full on inclusive flair, might I recommend 'guys, gals and non binary pals'!

Or as Daisy suggested, a simple y'all to reinstate the original you plural distinction we've lost in English by removing 'thou' as a singular you.  I started saying y'all ironically to mock the Yanks but over time I've conceded to its supreme linguistic usefulness.

So reading peoples comments online why the booing is justified this is what people say.

They reckon draft tampering was involved and port and Jason had this arranged

Because people are told not to boo

It's a free country we can do what we want

Kane Cornes keeps talking him up

It's not Horne's Francis fault Kane talks him up.

As I've said I completely get why nth fans would absolutely do it

Is our Tio stadium game against the Giants worth it?

I've been a big supporter but they are making it hard with the rolling fixture and the absence of television promotion.

Done properly it's a TV promoter's dream but there's little interest.

If the Vic Gov't would pay I'd be happy to see the game in Mildura. (Not impossible Dogs are paid to play in Ballarat)

I don't condone the booing but slightly different circumstances to a regular trade.

Horne-Francis essentially Tom Scullied North while they were on their knees and only saw out half of his rookie contract. Fair spit in the face of North fans who should rightfully be [censored] (I'm aware there are probable issues at North that contributed to him leaving).

Why every other teams fans has joined the booing bandwagon is somewhat perplexing but probably relates to group-think/pack mentality.

Agree. I could understand Roos fans being upset, but not other clubs.

BTW, I don't know that player you named. Name means nothing to me.

I still couldn't believe it when Oskar baker got booed in r1. It did die out towards the end but that was embarrassing. We delisted the guy.

I almost thought that was a joke at the time.  A sort of ‘funny because it’s so wrong’ thing.

Glad it stopped.

The only time I remember Melbourne fans booing someone who hadn’t left the club was when we played Adelaide at the G in 2009 and Nathan Bock had recently been accused / charged with domestic violence.

That goal by Powell Pepper in the last was a ripper and then he gives it to the saints supporters.

What, all 10 that were there.

Seriously though, with a membership of 55k with the game at Docklands and being on top of the ladder, that’s a very poor showing from Saints supporters.

Now watch us draw not even 20k to the G tonight

I say keep it but I think they could have a 25 m penalty used in conjunction. Not all infractions deserve the same penalty. Just saying.

Maybe .... but a 50 m penalty varies from around 35 - 55 m, so if they can't get that measurement right how will they go with a 25?  15 - 45?  They are miked up and GPS tracked - it should be relatively easy for "upstairs" to tell then exactly where the mark should be.

Gee, 'woke' can mean so many things.  So often it is so negative it borders on being an insult.

I wasn't trying to put a particular slant on the 'gents' comment more to make it more inclusive.

No need to apologise, I certainly wasn't offended hence the p.s. footnote.

Lions v Freo is just boring to watch. Switched over to GWS v Swans. Not much better.

I know a lot of water has passed under this bridge, but Hogan with his body right, mind right, and in form is a great footballer.

If we play at the G instead of Alice we lose the MCG compensation 'home' game (vs Hawks most years).  So we would probably travel somewhere else instead or play more at Marvel.  At least this year we have only one trip to Perth; it is usually two.

Swings and roudabouts.

And it won't change!

p.s I am not a 'woke' but may I point out that 'Sorry gents its whinge time for me' is a bit out of date.

Quite right Luci.

Sorry gents and sheilas would have been a preferred form of address.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
