No, it doesn’t surprise me. But it angers me nonetheless.

My only worry is Sydney defenders will double team Brown due to not having another solid senior body up forward.

JVR will keep them honest. He will get to the contest and help BBB out.

He has been whacking Petty all preseason.

Cannot wait to see him slam into opponents when they get under the ball or have it.

I love the way he uses his body as a weapon.

Hoping for plenty of goal assist from Jacob, plus 2 of his own.

I'm really disappointed they didn't pick Dunstan. I really feel for the bloke, he is basically in our best every week at casey and would definitely clean up our clearances. Imo offers more than JJ.

Can't help but feel the James magner curse everytime he is over looked.

He has not shown enough in the seniors when picked

Going in with a very short forward line not sure why we think this will work...?

And picking a short forward setup seems to trigger our midfield to bomb it high and long into the forward line.

He has not had the opportunity with midfield minutes in seniors. He got brownlow votes playing midfield at the saints. I think he is up to it, if he gets given a proper chance.

It’s only an issue if we bomb it in on the back of slow ball movement when half of their team is in our F50.

I don't believe there are ''rumours''.

More likely it's speculation in the posters own mind that's been fuelled by yesterday's Channel 7 tweet.  Channel 9 confirmed that May returned to the field and completed the session.

Either baseless rumors or just [censored] journalism.

not a fan of only having two forwards and one ruck in the starting 22, but that's just my preference of team balance

fingers crossed we smash em with ball movement

Maybe we are just intending to smash em

Understandably Tmac was going up against two very capable ruckman last week in trying circumstances with Max going down not to mention its his second AFL game in a long time. However he was next to useless. He couldn't stand his ground in any ruck contest let alone win a tap (infact Max had more taps 2-1). But he also couldn't get involved in the game at all, noticed he only played 58% game time which is interesting, I think fitness still an issue.

Grundy will clearly need help as he is still getting his fitness back and not looking overly comfortable covering the ground, not to mention getting used to a whole new midfield to work with. Has anyone seen much of JVB in the ruck? At the very least he's the most mobile option to do more at ground level. I hope Brown does the rucking while in the forward line as he's a much better option and can share the load.

Thank god they didn't give Harmes another chance. He looks terrific when the sides playing well but was such a liability last week. We need more consistency from the flanks/mid role which is where I trust JJ more.

Will be interesting to see what they do with the sub. I can see them tempted to put Mcdonald as sub fit enough with him and JVR capable of swinging down back if needed. I think I'd still prefer Tomlinson in if May pulls out again but if not I wonder, if May does plat  whether they might go tall with the sub as insurance with Petty/May possibly not 100%. With Fritsch back I see Melksham having less of a good fit/impact. Could be Dunstan for some fresh legs around the ball but they'll probably roll with Melk again.

Hidden amongst the major selection calls is that Judd McVee held his place after a rubbish game. Kudos to the coaches for backing him in.

You have a problem with set play 18 from the Demon's "25 Reasons to Bomb it Long" play book Mr Hood??

I'd be a whole lot happier ( and confident ) if Kozzie was in that side.

Me too.

It’s funny how last year we blamed most of our forward problems on Tmac not playing in the second half of the year. Yet, after just 2 games this year, he’s dropped. I agree he’s been poor so far, but it’s putting a lot of faith in Brown, Fritsch and JVR against last year’s grand finalist…

I’m so over the (sometimes thinly veiled) player bagging. Especially the likes of Harmsey. He is arguably the most popular amongst the players (he and Salo, actually) because of his forever upbeat mood and the fun he brings to the group, always. He’s a fiercely loyal friend (some of the stories I’ve heard would melt your heart) and for him to be out for personal reasons is really sad because it must be pretty serious. People should think before they post. Or even not post it at all.

And Soz if I sound like a broken record but I’ll defend players like Harmesy, Melks and all the other whipping boys ‘til the end. So get used to it y’all. 😠

Harmesy was a Demon fan in the darkest of dark times and 10 years later was one the 23 immortals. Hard to not respect the man.

Let’s not forget Tom is coming back from injury last yr and will take him a bit to get going.

He and Brown do work well together as he normally takes the number 1 defender and Brown gets the second stringer.

am worried that now he is out Brown will get the best defender and JVR will get the second stringer. It’s the kids first senior game and we can’t expect too much from him. It’s all good and well talking about his performance in the seconds but let’s hope it t transpires into the seniors for all our sakes.

It's disappointing.

TMac at the level he was at in 2021 would have made us a better side last year and would make us a better side right now.

Unfortunately on what he's shown this year since coming back from injury, that form is way off.

They also have to worry about Fritta. I’m predicting he will be better for the first up run last week. Still underrated IMO but Bailey is in the top few forwards on the comp…an absolute gun!

True but having Tom and Brown in the forward line together also helps his form and type of opponent he gets.

I would have persisted longer with T and B but time will tell.

Melk doesn't deserve selection really.
