Can we seriously buy a free kick??

Only in the back 50. Nowhere else.

Really got mozzed with the injury list talk this week.

First rule of Fight Club: Don't talk about the injury list

We clearly got ahead of ourselves before tonight. Both fans and players. I can take losing tonight at this stage, at this stage all I want is that Max isn’t gone for the season. Please please don’t be an worst case scenario

Really?  How about outplayed, as well as maybe being shellshocked at losing our best player early in the game?

What is this ball use?! Are we drunk?

Just had a free pour gin. I’m on my way!!

Oliver and Petracca on the bench together, they have both been average but that is odd to have them off at the same time.

What has happened to Brayshaws kicking?

Always been sketchy.
As with most in the side.

Just now, whatwhat say what said:

i'd forgotten how much bile gets spilled on the match day threads

Yeah, it’s off the charts

Petty having a shocker

With a lot of company I'm afraid.

Sloppy, losing clearances big time.  Half the boys up forward have barely touched the pill.

The worry for me is the structure, lack of big man impact.  Kicking down the line too often.  Not ogranised or clean in the middle (fumbles... not many first touch clearances) and some seriously dumb footy.

The good...

Sparrow, Lingers, Rick, Chandler, BBB (best of an ordinary bunch of forwards so far), Harmes (getting to the right spots but disposal too often smothered or goes nowhere), McVee

The Bad...

Max going down with a bruised knee

Grundy's ability to find a Lion

Clarry kicking's

Viney's kicking

Tracc's kicking

The ugly...

Nibbler's game

Tracc's game

Gus's game

Saprgo knows how to win a head high free kick

Need to try anything other than the long bomb forward - just isn't working.

Why can we do it at training but in a game it all goes out the wimdow??

This game just looks like it’s gonna peter out without much else happening.

Do something to change the state of the game. Come on Goody, come on anyone. Our inability to change mid course continues to be a problem.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
