Fair play I guess, I'd like to see someone do a vox pop at the next Hawthorn game asking all the under 10 y.o's how it feels to have never seen the Hawks win a flag.

Really feel for the Poos and Wees.

I personally would love to see the Poos and Wees get flogged for another decade. No sympathy at all from me.

We should have a MFC tent at all the hawks games, handing out free Trac and Oliver merch to all these poor, suffering Hawthorn kids.  There's plenty of room on our bangwagon.

My heart bleeds for all the bandwagon fans of the 1980s and 1990s who are now facing the prospect of dealing with miserable, dissenting offspring in the 2020s. If ever a team deserves to be relocated to Tasmania (or Kalgoorlie), it is that one.

I would just like to thank you all for sharing your Borethorn schadenfreude.

And those who are yet to contribute, thank you in advance.

"Yet here we were again, fleeing at three-quarter time, squashed into a carriage full of brown and gold."

What a soft rooster he is.

Sweet sweet schadenfreude

That must really stink

Oh a monumental boo-frickrn-hoo. Caught up with a Hawks supporting friend several years ago. Asked him how many flags he'd seen in his lifetime. His honest response "I can't remember." I was pretty sure it was about 10. 1 for every 4 years of his life to that point. Long may their descent continue.

"Why can't Hawthorn win all the flags, forever and ever, and then turn back time and win them all over again, and then invent a new sport and win all the flags in that too? Why is life so unfair? Won't somebody think of the children? Oh, and at three quarter time the jam doughnuts aren't properly warmed up yet, so it's just injury upon injury."

They can relocate to Tassy, sorry make that Siberia, no mercy whatsoever. I still have nightmares over the 87 Preliminary Final. Hate them with a passion

I hate them too. I was at the 87 Preliminary Final ... took a long while to get over. (We kinda lost it ourselves ... Campbell, Yeats, Eishold.)

But I think it's overlooked that we would have been hammered the next week (in the GF) had we won the PF.

This must be how the impoverished feel when they see the wealthy complain about taxation…

We should really target Jiath for recruitment.

a) He's pretty handy.

b) He's Hawthorn's only entertaining player under 28.

Other clubs can pick up Newcombe and Lewis, and that'll be it, no more Hawks from 2024-2030. Get it done.

I personally can't wait to taste the bitter tears of Geelong fans when they finally fall off a cliff. Delicious!

This is a wonderful thread, thank you.

Can confirm.

One of my favourite topics.

  1. I have PTSS regarding '87
  2. What do Peter Giles, Steven Smith, Roger Ellingworth and Neville Bruns all have in common?
  3.

**** wow, they’re going through the doldrums of a few bad years after a dynasty and already they’re crying about being carp? Get stuffed and have 50+ years of pain, then talk to us.

The only thing that could have possibly made this article better was if the dorks were still playing at cold and windy Waverley and after another drubbing instead of catching a train home he had to trudge out to his car, only to be stuck in the boggy carpark for 6 hours listening to match reviews on the radio

Let's enjoy this one to the fullest before we move on to Geelong. Let's not dilute the schadenfreude.

Dogs, Swans, Saints, even [censored] Dons and Pies fans know a little something about waiting a long time between drinks. As if the Hawks weren't already hated. This guy is sealing the deal.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
