I respect Kozzie's decision not to contest it and to spend the next 2 weeks in Port Adelaide with family. He only misses games against the 2 teams that put us out of the finals last year,no big deal.

Could be the most unjust decision by the AFL and their cohort for the year, however Goody should be able to use it.

One game and i already hate the AFL more than the maggots. Come to think of it i thought the Umpiring was that good, that i didn't notice it at all. I think that went for all matches as well. Just get rid of Boundary lines, umpires discretion to throw it in when he wants to, and make it 20 metre kicks or more or handball.

What i did notice was the ground, and that had better shape up quick smart. They have until Thursday and Carlton have injuries already.

He's not spending the full two weeks in Adelaide...

No doubt already been mentioned but of course Buddy gets just one week for going past the ball and ironing out oppo with an elbow to the head... Kozzy gets two with oppo barely a scratch.

The AFL Circus continues unabated!  Well done Gil

Serious question. Have we ever appealed a tribunal decision

Fritsch in '21. he got off iirc.

Cripps getting off was embarrassing and the stigma will stay forever ... top player and it's not his fault he was let off

But an undeserving Brownlow winner ... the AFL buckled and were weak

And so what if Demon supporters want Kozzie to stay.  What do want us to do?  Open the door for him?

He's a gun and a matchwinner and we cannot afford to lose him

Common sense says hes gone but just maybe the team can be the difference.

I imagine we'd all like to play in the middle with Max,Trac and Ollie

I doubt posting on Land comes into it

Yeah Cripps was embarrassing.

The AFL is embarrassing actually;  a typical Aussie bottom of the world self inflated sense of importance.

But at least AFL isn't NRL

The Fritsch 2021 elbow we managed to get reversed from one week to none at the Tribunal. But I can remember us far more often not taking arguable cases to the Tribunal.

The Fritch one was one of the most ridiculous suspensions offered given Fritch had the ball and was evading a tackle. While a high bump is deemed rough conduct the MRP got confused that a high fend off is not rough conduct.

I'm leaning towards him staying but it will cost the club a bundle.  But Friday night he was electric

Often players who get reported go quiet (and he must have known he was going to get cited) but Kozzie just kept going and was extremely influential

A dynamic player and clubs always find the money when they want to for such a player

Jackson wasn't worth the dollars (especially as compared to what Freo were guaranteeing) so the club made an executive decision

So the common sense decision is to pay him a bundle much as what we've done for at least 6 other players

At present the NFL Board all reside in a rest home for retired player within a Cookoo's Nest.

The AFL Board are greedy to the extent that they hide within the framework of success  built on money made and duly redelivered to the Clubs. Obviously bugger the players health and supporters opinions who provide that wealth and wages.

These people aren't related to "the all of life Supreme Court tenure"

Disagree entirely. Glad we didn't fight this. I do agree that Buddy got off lightly. Disgraceful that he only got one week. I totally disagree with penalties being partially-based on the severity of injury. Intent should be all that matters. Love Kozzie but did not love what he did on Saturday night.

Intent is tricky. We should work with precedent and track record and therefore it's a week.

Edited by leave it to deever

Heard on SEN the Dogs medical report wasn't favourable. Must have the Carlton doctor who claimed any player on the receiving end of such incidents was lucky to be alive.

Just watching "On the couch" . They asked fake Brownlow Medalist Cripps for his view on the Kozzi ( and another ) hit.

A bit like getting the wolf's opinion on what sort a job the fox did in the chook house

FM !!!!

Jon Ralph on 360 said the AFL described Kosi's bump as body with incidental contact to the head. FMD. We should have challenged the impact grading.

Good luck with that

He hasn't signed and the season has begun.

The historical odds are really obvious

I don't imagine it's the money, the Club will pay anything his agent asks for.

We all know that.

Angus was upfront saying publicly that he was looking at his options

Not a word from Pickett/ Jackson.

The other big signings were already committed players nearing their peak (well almost)

The only chance is  that his unhappiness with the way he was being used last season is now alleviated and he's prepared to stay in a town he still hasn't got to like .

Living with Jackson last year wouldn't have helped

The simplest explanation is the most likely .

One of which is that I am simply often wrong about many things  which is good because he was exciting last Saturday.

Other that the stupid over the top pointless indiscretion.

Playing on the edge is what Selwood did.Its not what Toby Greene does.

That's not true. If you don't stand up for yourself you just get trampled on.
Perfect case for serious lawyer to challenge the AFL make up rules on the run and their integrity. It's over Tuesday night generally and players have got to learn to handle these issues when they arise.
It's very easy to walk away but the tackle was not high nor strong. Smith was up instantly with thumbs up and the report by Christian said high impact. Patently wrong 1 week off or even 2!!!

We haven’t had a history of standing up for ourselves, and it made no difference in September 2021. Didn’t seem too trampled on then.

Let it go. For all we know Koz made the decision and the club supported him. We have much bigger fish to fry in 2023.

Kane Cornes and David King are the loudest voices I’ve heard that wanted more, ignoring that two weeks for a no actual harm incident is a huge leap forward for something that not long ago would have been thrown out for insufficient force.

Whateley and Damien Barrett are two big profiles that think it’s a fair outcome.

That's their views on Buddy's?

Kings wanted more for Buddy also, particularly because he has priors.  Not sure if Cornes particularly referenced Buddy too much.

Wow if true then surely Smith is in concussion protocol and must miss a week? Their doctors are also negligent for not taking him off for 20 minutes for concussion test on Saturday.

Like clockwork, the week a Melbourne player is in trouble, is the week everyone in the AFL Media decides "Enough's Enough"

Not quite sure what the similarity is. He followed up tp protect and give safe passage tp his team -mate who was heading towards goal. To insinuate that Pickett has a history of attack is almost insane.

You must now have read my post correctly. The action, of spearing players is similar. He does it within the rules. his hit was late, but not high. it's almost a spinning move . anyway, it's done now. we have cut our losses and moved on.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
