I have a newborn son, and my train line is undergoing major works, so I won't be attending matches until later this year. TV for me for a few months.

My little guy will be decked out in a Demons onesie watching his first game of footy on tv Saturday night.

Don't forget to make him a baby demon member!

Congratulations!

Parenting is a lot like being a Melbourne supporter... sometimes good, sometimes terrible and  always riddled with anxiety.

Edit: If his name isn't Max, Clayton or Christian I will be very disappointed

I tried to name him Clayton Oliver but my wife wasn’t having it. She is from a Demon family however so he’s a guaranteed hardcore Demon!

Well, I'll be having the most vegetarian of vegetarian pies at probably a going rate of $15 in the MCC, having a soy cappuccino and hoping that May's injury doesn't set us back too much. Meanwhile, I'll be hoping that I can control my swearing and incessant commentary a little better in preparation for bringing my son along next year and not annoying my family too much. I have one year left before bozo attends and I'd rather he wasn't a nuffy like me.

As usual I shall manoeuvre my prodigious buttocks into my reserved seat on Saturday and drink plenty of overpriced beer. I expect Moonshadow ( a defrocked Demonlander) will also be there ...and possibly Biffen ( also a defrocked Demonlander).

I expect nothing less than a comfortable victory over the denizens of Melbourne's less salubrious barrio .

At least you can get a drink at the Gee, Uncle. I was cruising in the Vette last week through Romsey and looking for refreshments on a warm day only to find the Romsey Hotel closed and out of business! That’s a real shock for a Fitzrovian like myself. I mean what is going on these days in the frontier lands?

That's been shut for at least 3 years now!

Thank you for your aristocratic concern Earl.

Yes, the local Public House is as dead as that famous parrot, and has been for some years. A dispute over " one armed bandits", was the crux of the problem.

A sad sign of the times but I do keep The Manor's cellar amply stocked.

The owner wanted to get a pokies licence but some local wowser group and the council opposed it. It went to VCAT and he was rolled.

He owns two other pubs with pokies so basically, he cracked the [censored] and closed it.

I don't give a flyer either way about pokies but the council was small minded in this. They and the community would have been better off to work with the owner. IE demand certain improvements and investments for their support.

There have been some attempts to revive it but without success.

Go easy with the beers for the new one as he might get colic.

Just for some perspective: my plans for round TWO start today… I’m having a mammogram this morning the results of which I won’t know until next Friday, an hour or so after I arrive in Brisbane for our match that night at the ‘Gabba. If the dreaded Big C has indeed returned I’ll have to get on a plane home immediately since I’m part of a trial.

So, round two I’ll either be front row at the ‘Gabba waving a flogger, screaming like a lunatic or in the Royal Melb Hospital watching the match on TV.

All good though… I know it’ll be the former, and NOT the latter. 🙂

Killer memory right there, Layz. Yeah, I spent our round one match last year sweating on results having experienced a scare which ended up being all good, just like our round one result. ❤️💙 Here’s hoping for a repeat of that this year.

Today the radiographer said she wishes great outcomes for me on both counts next Friday. And she was a Collingwood supporter! So there are nice ones out there, albeit few and far between. 😁

Geez WCW, I was just getting in the mood to unleash some sarcasm and abuse ....... and you were a likely target.

Then comes your news.

I wish you all the best for good news ( I'm confident it will be) and shall send some positive vibes in the direction of snorbs!

I'm not overstocked with positivity so this effort will probably exhaust me.

Well I’ll be! There IS a heart beating under all that bluff and bluster.💕

Thanks for the positive vibes, BBO. But maybe you should channel them to the ‘G tomorrow night instead. They may be needed there considering our outs. Besides, Snorbs wouldn’t know what hit it copping positive vibes. Foreign concept right there. 🙃

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
