How Martin finishes in the top 10 is beyond my comprehension. Curnow as the best player is also over the top.

It seems Robbo is being both highly aggressive and highly defensive at the same time with these selections. It's rather like a stock picker investing in Lithium stocks and fossil fuels.

Anyone who actually watches melbourne games knows Oliver is #1.

Trac is a 'sexy' player. The way he moves, the way he can score goals, he just is more eye catching.

You have to really understand the game to appreciate how good Oliver is. 90% of what he does is at such speed you miss it if you blink. He is genius with ball in hand, and if he puts a bit more scores on the board this year he will easily be recognised as number one across the competition. It's what I also believe will help him to win a Brownlow one day. If he gets even just 20 goals in a season he will win it.

Having said all that, Trac makes Oliver better,  just as Oliver makes Trac better. They have a phenomenal sense of awareness of one another and watching them play together is beautiful. We really need to appreciate how lucky we are to have both on our team.

I know it's predictive, but from a Melbourne perspective May is underrated.

He's the best defender in the league and lost the least percentage 1v1s in 2022.  He's not behind Darcy Moore or Stewart.  And the ESPN list has him also behind Sicily.  He's behind no-one.

He didn't include Fritsch because he criticised his perceived selfish behaviour last year.  Only one player in the league has scored more goals than Fritsch the last 2 years (Hawkins).  He's definitely a top 50 player, as evidenced by his AA40.

Interestingly, this morning on SEN Nathan Buckley listed his 5 most impactful players in the game and he had Gawn at 1 and May at 2.  Oliver was also in the top 5 along with Darcy Moore and Neale.  Even Moore's biased ex-coach had him behind May.

There's no way Oliver is behind Cripps as a footballer, but I admit I don't rate Cripps nearly as highly as many.

Anyway, it's all just opinion and I recognise my bias.

And neutral fans of the game seem to dislike his style of play/general attitude. Not sure why.

He’s the best player in the comp. All you need to ask yourself is, would you trade him for anyone else in that top10?

If Clarry left I would burn the MCG down.

So no I would not trade him for anyone in the top 10. I would not trade him for any player in the competition.

Signing him for 7 years was the best thing the MFC has ever done since that time they won a flag in 2021

Anyone can put anyone they want in a list of who they think will be good in the upcoming 2023 season. So sure, put Dusty in the top 10. Come October, let's see if he was in the 10 best players in the league.

But if we're talking "power rankings", i.e. who are the best players right now, Dusty's not close to the top 10. Whilst he might be top 10 for the "all time" power rankings, he's not currently one of the 10 best players in the AFL. The ESPN list @poita posted is not too bad on that front, but I wouldn't have Tom Lynch in my top 10.

Oliver and Petracca should be in most top 10s, as should Cripps, Andrew Brayshaw, Jeremy Cameron and Miller.

Saw Trac on he front page of the herald sun this morning and that was the only reason I thought he was there instead of Oliver.
No offence to Trac but when we need a lift it's most often Oliver who cranks up the engine.

Meggs would argue that the AFLCA champion players award rating system has slightly more gravitas than Mr Robinson’s rambling prognostications.   So let’s not pay too much attention to him, Clarry should be no. 1.

Previous ‘Demon’ winners of AFLCA:

2022 Oliver / Miller,  2021 Oliver,  2018 Gawn and in 2006 Simon Goodwin 😉

We're getting a lot more love from the fans than Robbo.

As part of the same article, the HS readers have Oliver at 1, Gawn at 3, Trac at 7, May at 17, and Gus at 20.

Five In top 20 ❤️💙

Would prefer to back someone that knows the game like Buckley. He has Oliver, Gawn and May in his best 5. 3/5 not bad.

Going ok - can’t fit Trac in

I’m still amazed that this jive turkey is on AFL360, when Chief replaced him when he was ill, it was an absolute joy to watch, Gerard the host and the expert commentator from Chief.  Must be a hell of a lot of Winnie Blue smokers out there sending in love letters to Foxfooty to keep him relevant.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
