First time ever all of Demonland agrees with Jon Ralph. 👏👏🤣🤣

Preuss will be the only one suspended. Star and/or Richmond/Collingwood/Geelong rule save Cotchin and De Goey.

Cotchin has been getting away with this dirty stuff his whole career. Would be nice if people got suspended for deliberate malicious acts rather than incidental collisions and tackles.

Waste of time...

Cotchin is a faux tough guy, always has been. Nut probably tried to mess up his hairdo, which would’ve sent him aggro (Cotchin’s hair probably looks like that even in the shower).

Despite a string of match review charges he has not been suspended since a four-week absence for charging North Melbourne’s Sam Wright in 2010.

Cotchin famously played in the 2017 grand final after being cleared of rough conduct when he concussed Dylan Shiel as he tried to contest the ball early in the MCG preliminary final.

In 2019 Cotchin was handed only a fine for striking Lachie Neale in the jaw amid an AFL crackdown on punches, then copped another fine for striking St Kilda’s Jack Lonie to the stomach later that season.

He was also handed a reprimand for an early-career strike on St Kilda’s Jarryn Geary and a fine for a late, high spoil on Zac Williams.

Last year he was again fined for kicking Adelaide’s Taylor Walker, with the Crows ex-captain saying he “would have been missing the next month” had he committed the act.

Cotchin has also been fined for tripping, umpire contact, wrestling and engaging in a melee across his highly decorated 287-game Brownlow Medal-winning career.

Cotchin deserves a week. Won't get one. Should have got a month for kicking taylor walker. Preuss should get off but will probably get 2 weeks

Cotchin should get one week. But he won’t.  AFL is biased on and off field.
False tough guy. False nice guy. Brownlow medallion by default.  Pathetic act from a so called leader !!

So he hasn't got any form that would indicate that he should spend the next  five years in jail.

I’ve never in my 23 years of running this website experienced something like that.

Completely bizarre. Thanks for fixing it up.

Cotchin's good run with the MRO/tribunal has continued with a fine he'll be able to pick up from the car ashtray,

Although in fairness, if it was one our players we'd probably say it only deserved a fine.

De Goey got off too, and probably fair enough.

Somewhat surprisingly, I think the MRO got the three decisions more or less right.

Cotchin maybe a little lucky, the De Goey one was a sling but wasn't a drive into the ground, and Berry actually jumped into the Preuss tackle so I don't think there was much he could do.

How on earth does Cotchin only get a fine when Viney gets 2 weeks? I remember Whately really pushing the case for Vineys suspension but doesn’t seem to care so much about Cotchin.

Its pre season and already the MRO has lost credibility.

Walker was right when he said if it was him kicking Cotchin he would have got a month

the MRO cannot lose what it has never had, credibility

Watched the footage of JV’s suspension from a few years back. His elbow was into Collins neck for about 4.5second. The amount of force applied also looks negligible as Collins doesn’t react initially - comparable  to when i scratch the belly of my cat for the same amount of time - both then realise what’s going and proceed to freak out.

Cotchin’s had much more of a driving force , and from what I can tell seems to apply the arm for about 2-3 seconds.

The situation was similar enough, with the same intent and arguably higher force. Loved the way Robbo and sidekick Whately just wave it off in 360. I had to pinch myself as I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Disappointed but not surprised. Whatever, hopefully he hasn't been dropped and is playing Anzac Eve when we belt them again.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
