The lack of value that some still place on this bloke astounds me.  His presence makes us much better, and gives the opposition huge headaches.

Maybe some do not value him but please take care to read the first sentence of my post. Thanks.

A scare went through the Demon's camp at training when Jack Viney went down with a suspected knee injury. He immediately left the track and was taken for scans to assess the damage, if any, to his knee.

On the eve of the 2023 Season Melbourne Football Club General Manager of AFL Football Performance Alan Richardson allayed every Demon fans worst fears stating that that the scans revealed that "there isn't any significant damage to his knee".

“We will have a better idea of his rehabilitation progress over the next week. While he will miss this weekend’s practice match against Richmond, we don’t anticipate him to be further impacted ahead of the season.”

The club, through it's website, confirms that the 28 year old will be on "light duties" until he is fit to resume full training.

With just 16 days remaining until the Demon's Round 1 encounter with recent rival the Western Bulldogs the clock is certainly ticking and Demon fans will be hoping that Jack will take the field in the season opener.

A number of players are ready to fill the giant sized hole left in the middle in Viney's absence with Tom Sparrow ready to jump into the breach after returning from the break super fit and training the house down over the preseason according to all report from Demonland's trackwatchers. Angus Brayshaw might also need to be pulled from defence duties. James Jordon could be recalled from Casey to replace the injured Vice Captain.

Looks like his Dad in that picture.

Ouch. Dunstan will look to step up until Jack gets back.

Unlikely - out til after rd 1 with a hamstring I thought?

Sparrow is next inside rotation, I would’ve thought, while Harmes and Jordon might see more centre square activity if Viney is out beyond season start

Viney will glare at them and they will postpone the start of the season.

So if I'm reading the room right, we like Jack, Good because he is the most capable of a 'mic drop' tackle in a big game, and scare the pellets out of any opposition, (and do a dozen other things well).

Actually think it's a small blessing - viney Oliver and trac - all bulls.

We need to show some variety and get some pure speed around the stoppages. Increased midfield time for kozzie. Will get a good at Rivers with more midfield minutes, maybe some chandler or bowser time in there for some chaos around the ball.

Will definitely keep the opposition guessing as what's actually possible with our group

I hope what they really mean is that we can get by without him especially for a game or two early in the year - Rivers, Sparrow in particular will be keen to step up - but he is an absolute essential at the business end of the season NB finals.

Spot on.

Ir seems to me that his importance to the team is underated by some fans and media people.

Annoying that media gets hold of this before the club even releases anything official.

Unfortunately the Media are not interested in facts but sensationalising the news so they get Media attention and newspapers sold. Look what they have done to Kozzie of late.

Whilst Viney is very important to us I believe we have cover with the likes of Sparrow, Jordan, Rivers etc. for what I hope is only a short time out, if at all.

Too late.  I have locked myself in the bathroom.

That is the sensible play. Panic is when you try to make a dash for the front door even though you can still hear the intruders inside your house, and the police are on the way already.

He's recovering from a Hamstring injury. I don't know the timeframe for his return but he might be pushing it for Round 1 as well.

So Dunstan has a hamstring injury?? Unfortunate.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
