A ruckman is an absolute must. Would be straight up list management negligence to go in to next year with Max, Schache, Verrall and not a genuine back up ruck.

Key forward should be a must, but I’m wondering if they address it with train on players rather than making a move. Give me the 3 best delisted/state leaguers/overlooked kids and let them battle it out over summer.

The draft has always made sense for mids and runners apart from 1-2 cheap back ups if they fit just to fill the list turnover.

Need a good ruck/forward. Don’t ever want to see JVR in the centre square again ever!!

You don’t get Winx to pull a plough in the paddock.

Operation 'Get Levi'.

Who's down for it?

AFL 2022 | Gold Coast Suns' Levi Casboult on his move from Carlton | CODE Sports

Needs one of DL's photoshoppers for your campaign, BD. And, with that 'development', perhaps in one of the women's DC Comic long-sleevers?

(Fun aside, I guess he could be a Pedersen-level contributor? Better than a nothing option if that's where the choice ends up. Injury susceptibility, though?)

M.Gawn says thanks for the metaphor, SPC [insert 'Winx' emoji: 😉]

Played 41 of possible 45 games for the Suns over 2022/23 so durability is in his favour. Pretty good no frills option I reckon. Good ruck chop out, too.

We would be paying $500,000 a year for 5 years for pick 4.

I still hold hopes that we can get Swans pick 11.  Without Grundy they are stuffed and there are no other elite rucks available.  Obviously a pick goes back to them.

You don't need an elite ruck. We are blessed with Gawn but a competitor like Jamar or Nankervis or McInerny would suffice. Arguably our trying to fit others around our gawn game plan has cost us in the past couple of years.

Did I read Matt Flynn, the second ruck from GWS is talking to us?

Would make sense...

Very good option. Hope we can get it done

Many journos have him heading to West Coast

Casboult re-signed with GCS months ago. If you’re going to go to the effort of posting pictures of players you might want to first google their contract situation.

Thought he was going to WC.

So by this reckoning Grundy and Mabior Chol are simply off discussion on this forum because they still have years left on their contracts?

Read like we’ve asked but he seems a longer way down the track with WC. They’ve probably given him an indication that he’ll get a good look at more regular game time.

Especially if Williams will be deployed up forward more often than not.

they've been in trade discussions since midway thru the season

levi re-signed around the same time and is obviously going nowhere

Oh I’m sorry I wasn’t aware that all player contracts are unalterable and fully binding and that players are no longer allowed to leave for other clubs mid contract. That’s a new situation in the AFL I wasn’t aware of thanks for the update.

That might be too much logic for a few of them to handle in one post Dazzle. Ease it back a bit 😉

Levi Casboult.... Good lord. We need to get back to winning finals & playing in Grand Finals to stop this absurd talk.

It’s a cut price potential option in a shallow market. Ideally I’d like Tom Lynch but you’ve got to look at alternatives. Casboult would offer more than TMac and BBB.

Not every player in a premiership winning 22 is vying for a spot in the All Australian side. Put forward your idea/s if you’ve got something better or more interesting. Easy to pot shot, harder to come up with solutions.

Mid contract. Players who've recently re-signed aren't leaving.

Nice out of the box thinking. Even Cales brother Mitch is a discard and then premiership player. Anyway, if you were to think that Levi was the elixir for all your premiership contending ailments, at any time, you’d be deemed crazy.

this thread is a great opportunity to whittle away some hours while your life is passing you by. And rather than take a pot shot, I’d rather the current incumbents than Levi. They know the system, they know their teammates and most importantly they probably won’t be playing unless there is an injury glut.

Just like an instagram influencer, this thread is brave and stunning. 🤩

Thanks for that truly shocking epiphany.

Didn't work, though, it seems... 😕

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
