Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The dude is perennially injured. Glad we're not in the mix of clubs needing a big backman.

How he is work pick 3 is beyond me.

He’s pretty good mark but never even had 20 touches in a game. Not once in 6 seasons.  Barely gets on the park as well.

Melbourne couldha had Kelly...

We move on

Dom Tyson helped hold the midfield fort for a few seasons while we were battling and Salem’s had a pretty damn good 11 season career. Premiership player and permanent fixture of our very good back six. Yes his past two seasons haven’t been quite as stellar but I’m okay with that deal.

Kelly is a very good player but he was touted as destined to be a ‘top ten player in the comp’ at one stage and ‘future Brownlow medallist’. He has never reached those heights. Just the one All Australian blazer and finished 5th in the Brownlow once, back in 2017. That’s good but not in the game’s elite.

How desperate are West Coast?

Was an inference that Hawks were into Naughton on Whately from a listener and a separate inference that Dees were confident of landing a big fish FF.

Some chat (listener speculation) that Spargo was interested in either Roos or Hawks.

We could have picks and cap space galore.

I like Charlie, and probably prefer to keep. Hawks have a 2nd rounder which will get swallowed up in matching a bid for McCabe. Spargo’s going rate is roughly a 2nd rd pick, Kanga’s have nothing in that space as it stands.

8 seasons. Drafted end of 2015. Makes it even more damning that a player has only just made it to 70 games after 8 seasons on a list as he’s constantly injured. He’s also below average when he does get on the park, and at one stage mid year had lost more one on one contests than any other defender in the league. He’s not athletically gifted either. He’s worth a third rounder. He’s basically a less durable and worse version of Tomlinson. It’s mind blowing he could get them first round compo or that any team is willing to pay him more than 200-300k.

Got no issue with this. Seven seasons in Spargs is still going at 10 touches and 0.5 goals a game. Not good enough for a small forward. He can use it but doesn’t find it often enough.

Fresh start elsewhere might do him good.

How many targets he hit during Finals?

Ok clearly you don't rate him

Against the Blues

He had more disposals and less game time than the following.

McVee
Fritta
Bowey
Jordon
Smith
Chandler
TMac

He chases hard, can tackle and when he gets the ball he is creative and does hit targets consistently. If you don't think that's correct, I'd suggest you don't watch too many games.

I'd be sending Chandler packing well before Spargo - Chandler did SFA during that game and the same can be said of Jordon. You find out a lot about individual players when it really matters (finals)

I agree 100%. Spargo has high footy !Q. I was so disappointed with Chandler. If it's a choice between the two, Charlie wins by a country mile.

Spargo and Chandler off us the same thing

Spargo is smart enough to understand this which is why he is looking elsewhere

I think the biggest issue with Spargo is that he can barely kick 30 meters. So he hits targets up well inside 50, he does chase and tackle as you say, but he can't be the final link in the chain and convert. ANB and Kozzy do all of the bits you are saying Spargo can do, and they can be the final kick to score as well.  Chander can hit the scoreboard, but needs to work on his defensive craft considerably in the off season.
For what it's worth, in the final Spargo was probably close to our best player in the first quarter and a bit, I thought he faded out in the second half... far from our worst.

But they play different roles, Chandler plays more forward pocket and closer to goal and crumbs, and didn't get on the end of things nearly as well in the 2nd half of the season.  But was probably our best small forward in the first half of the season, and was very accurate.  Spargo plays a higher role on the HFF and looks like he's there to connect up with the forwards.  But he can't score... It's a role more like Gryan Miers.

Maybe it's him looking for more opportunities after a 10 game season? If he doesn't want to fight for his spot, or wants a bigger pay packet, then good luck to him. It would be a shame to go, but adding to our draft haul with another pick, and beating the Dogs to that GCS pick would be a higher priority than keeping him, if given the two options

Totally agree

I was merely pointing out what unfolded

Tyson had some very good years, but Salem needs a rest. Poor bugger is cooked

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
