Right at the end Ms Roffey told of at least a half a dozen councils she had contacted in the last few months regarding available land ( hectares as she put it) without luck. The club has been looking for 30 years we were told.

Next question is when is time to give up.  When is time to tell members that an inner city base is unlikely .Twenty seven million dollars doesn't  go far when buy hectares in Melbourne.

the club has Casey Fields and its set up AMMi park for gym and pools and the admin is there as well, we also won a Premiership with these same conditions,

We also won multiple premierships when based at the MCG in the 50's and 60's.

It's not a valid argument, things move on and more quickly than ever these days.

On the home base issue there doesn't appear to be a lot of movement.

yeah and we trained there and was the only club there as well, that doesn't happen now, so what's your point, it's a ground, it's a weight and gym, it's a pool, we have better facilities now than the Junction Oval, we missed out throughout time because of this ideology that we must only be near the MGC because we play at the G and it's our home ground that worked out for us didn't it.

Then maybe co-locating admin and FD will be ‘moved on from’ and will be seen as unnecessary in a world where white collar office space is an albatross to organisations.

You're not getting the point...

I have not said anything about us needing to be near the MCG.

...but our current facilities need to be upgraded, we are falling behind the arms race.

As we did when we were at the MCG and didn't read the room.

What facilities need to be upgraded for the players that we struggle with?

Could be and it makes sense for some functions of the club.

All facilities need to be improved to keep up with the competition.

Roffey said tonight the players have everything they need at Casey. Ground, gym, pool, indoor arena etc. they want for nothing in terms of the quality of the necessities.

Just a shame it’s an hour away from the CBD.

I can imagine the envy on our players' faces when they turn up to RSEA Park on Friday for a practice match and they cop a close up view at the facilities the Saints are creating at their home.

I was down there a couple of weeks ago and it's damn impressive. You can all take a look on Friday arvo and think about what might have been.

Yes I understand confidentiality and stake holder consultations, but the lack of progress is one glaring red dot on our four year strategy.

When the result came in I scored two out of three on board appointments. I can't help thinking we missed an opportunity for a fresh approach with the vote tonight.

There's a sameness about our board - corporate backgrounds in finance, management, law, accounting...but I don't see anything in government ties and Reed might have been that.

I did note (before my feed cut out) that Kate referred to her "friend" Tim Pallas. Perhaps she was trying to tell us something but adding a professional in the field of government liaison would not be a bad thing. The board could do worse than swallow its pride and see what Reed has to offer in some other capacity.

So we cannot upgrade Casey then, is that what you are saying, GOSH'S paddock has been upgraded or are football grounds going to get bigger?

Of course we can upgrade Casey if that's the path we are taking.

My original point was that your comment that we won a flag with the facility we had doesn't hold water.

That was 2 years ago, I know we have had some upgrades since that but we are behind the competition.

We should win a flag this year, it won't mean our facilities are at a level they should be, it just means we have a better list.

Accordingly the resolution was not carried.

Doesn't say which is For or Against, assuming For listed first

Either way, significant support for motion

You keep saying facilities need to be upgrading but you cannot say what, stop generalising and tell me, or are you saying that the need for upgrading cost us a flag last year?

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
