The media aren’t talking about him but I’m sure clubs are well aware of his contract status. He’s been a massive highlight of our 2023 season.

1) is a deadly snap at goal.

2) has stepped up with goals in crucial moments against Richmond and Sydney.

3) General skills above average.

4) defensive intent highly noticeable.

5) Clearly on track for a 35+ goal season if he plays the entire season.

6) plays with passion and would be a coaches dream.

In line with the thread, if he were a stock he’d be A2 Milk circa 2017-2018. From $2 to $12 in the space of 12 months.

Even better, he strikes me as a true red and blue player.  He'll likely stay with us regardless of other clubs knocking on his door 😁

This just highlights what a stupid error our brains trust made last year ignoring a number of players killing it at Casey.

We'll never know but it may have cost us a flag in 2022.

I wouldn’t go that far but it was bemusing to me that we were obviously hurt and out of gas and our seconds won a flag a week later…

Playing Jackson ahead of JVR in the last 2 finals was a disaster.

Actually playing Gawn who was a broken man was a disaster. JVR was minutes away from playing ahead of Gawn in the elimination final.

We never ever should have been in a position where our best players were playing with one functioning limb when we were 10-0 to start the season.

We have done a much better job managing our players so far this season. Gawn missing a month could well be a blessing in disguise come September. Likewise getting a really fit and firing Salem in August could be a game changer.

Early in the season still and as one who was on the fence at the start of the season, Chandler could be just the spark we need to take us well into September.

An average of two goals per week (presently at 1.9 average) sees him as a top shelf contributor.

One thing I would like to see is how often he is on the ground at the same time as Kozzie.

Going forward with Chandler, Kozzie and Spargo in the team is interesting from a setup viewpoint. Each bring valuable and different skills to the team system.

One other thing that was absent in the past perhaps (Watts springs to mind) is that players honour the leads he makes

I have it on good authority he likes apricot slices.  When I was in Adelaide for Gather Round, I had coffee with one of the player's mums, and she brought along with her a lemon slice for her son and an apricot slice for Kade at the open training session.  When he came down to say thank you, he had a grin the width of the Grand Canyon, and when asked "have you eaten it already?" his response was "[censored] yeah, that was the best!"

So maybe the club can incorporate apricot slices somewhere in Chin's contract it'll convince him to stay.  Just a thought.

You don't happen to know of a few more stocks that might be about to do that by chance?

Now this is the sort of hard hitting reporting I come to Demonland for. Nowhere else has the big issues.

From that article:

"...Chandler has been involved in 24.6 per cent of Melbourne's scores this year."

Impressive!

Is there any other player in the comp who is anywhere near this?

I am interested just where did that stat come from.

Superimpressive.

And PS - like Frittata, he kicks really well with either foot.  Hard for a defender to know which way they will turn.

What an amazing, but now not unexpected, goal by Chin early in the second.  Brilliant and calm.

After going goalless in his first 10 AFL games, Kade Chandler has become the most important part of Melbourne's attack in 2023.

I get the point of the story, but it's a stupid headline.

In 8 of his first 10 games he played as the sub.

In 5 of those he didn't even get on the ground and in the other 3 he played 16%, 13% and 22% game time respectively.

Can close this thread with the Chandler contract signing. Well done to everyone who bought the shares at a low price. And particularly well done to Kade who has delivered some excellent games and consistent level of pressure and attack at the contest.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
