What picks in the draft were those guys?

Sarcasm aside Grundy was Pick 18 (2012), Schache was Pick 2 (2015) & Hunter was Pick 49 (2012).

Since they last won a final. They played finals in 2021.

I could potentially attend this..

Knowing my luck I'd probably show up with 100 other supporters  on the day with no players in sight only to be told over the phone by staff member that they've unexpectedly had to move their closed session to China.

G'Day Daz expecting an Incisive report!!🤩

Is Telstra still the 'tel' in Foxtel? If so, is the $270m Telstra's contribution to Foxtel for broadcast, streaming and other digital rights? Or a separate payment?

Your point is correct, thought. The AFL mandates that every club's website is Telstra managed (for want of a better technical term).

i though the peptides went it alone with their own website, but that may have changed recently

Can't agree here either.  I'm trusting Picket did actually get to training and on that assumption and based on his report then there was nothing special that he saw that needed to be protected.  I imagine they moved it to Casey so they could get match practice on an MCG sized field and not on the much smaller Gosch's paddock.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but wasn't the purpose of the work done at Goschs meant to correct that. Otherwise why did the Board spend the money?

Does anyone know what the extent/type of surgery Clarrie had on his thumb? Did he have a metal plate or pin inserted? If so, could this be the cause of the pain? It’s strange no media has followed up on this. He has sat out several training sessions, yet I’ve seen nothing from the media about the issues he is facing. Couple of brief grabs, that’s it. Maybe it’s the club remaining tight lipped.

I don’t mind the club holding back information on injuries if it makes it harder for oppositions to target our players’ injury, but I guess if Clarrie is carrying a sore hand it will be apparent for all to see.  Maybe the devil is in the detail.

Perhaps I am wrong about the mandate. If I am, that does validate the question about why we are using Telstra. I'm not sure whether the content can be blamed on Telstra, though.

Having said that, I am consistently gobsmacked about how bad the members' portal on the website is. I don't wish to add fuel to Hawk the Demons fire, but finding information about the Board and the election process is far too complicated. Whether that's a Telstra or MFC problem (or someone else's) it should be fixed and made far simpler to navigate.

Not totally sure but I'd say it's an AFL partner thing and all club websites run under that arrangement as part of the deal. This way they would also be able to keep some consistency across all sites and also give the impression that they actually own the clubs 😄

Hunter was a father son wasn’t he, which would have lowered his pick number.

Correct. We was nominated at pick 35 by North, though many viewed him as a top 30 pick.

I thought Hunter was drafted under the old F/S system as iirc the 'matching' and 'Draft Points' system didn't start until the 2015 draft.

I think the old system meant that clubs needed to use their next pick rather than points.

True.  But the Bulldogs made sure they didn't have a 'good' pick to use.  Their previous pick in 2012 was 21.   Clubs knew that so there wasn't much point in nominating him after #21 so WB got him cheap.

As an aside, we got JV7 cheap in the same draft.

I had some involvement with all of this some time back. Essendon refused to join the Telstra deal and ran their website as a standalone. Among other things they used it to pay Hird, Lloyd, Mercuri and others outside the salary cap for 'marketing expenses'

Not sure if the deal still stands. Actually just looking at their website it says copyright AFL and telstra so I am guessing that deal is over.

Curiously you didn't pull up Demonland correcting this mistake as second in line to do so!!! Third up is a bit too far for your patience.

Correct  for both.

It is a while since I last heard of how this all works, but Telstra pays the AFL for the rights to run the AFL and Club websites.

The Clubs have an allocation of alterations/ changes they can make each day.  If you want more then they have to pay.   Collingwood used to do this and had a great site, but they seem to have reverted to the standard issue now.

Fact is the website is pathetic, because of the lack of genuine material being uploaded.  Training pictures......wow!  We can't even get an update on the number of members we have today, just last years number, and it is already February......7 months after totals were signed off.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
