Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

Fritsch's Goals 2022

Watched this with the sound down, Fasch playing in the background - along with Telemann, a composer second only to Bach and Handel - and all the talk about his 'selfishness' is absolute bulldust. He saw an opportunity, he went for it. Most often, he was rewarded.

The interesting thing is how often the Demons were in front before a last quarter demise.

Also, what is interesting is that in the last 4 games of the season, the Demons decisively beat sides which they later succumbed to...

  • Demonland changed the title to Fritsch's Goals 2022

That reel shows what a truly class player he is. I would rather have him kicking around the corner from the middle of a crowd than, eg, Tracc lining up for a set shot 20m out. As I have said in other threads: he is there to kick goals and the criticism of him being selfish was totally wrong. He is not like Spargo, there to assist; he is there to finish.

Two things that really stood out for me were his ability to keep his feet and be 100% anticipating the loose ball from a marking contest, and just how quickly he can set himself for a kick after taking the ball from sometimes quite awkward positions.

First one gains him half a second on opponents reaction and the second means he needs half a second less to make a realistic shot on goal. Those two traits have earned him somewhere in the range of 10-15 goals in 2022.

The other that's gained him probably another 10 - 15 goals the past few years is that he's got his set short routine perfected and so rarely misses shots, particularly the regulation ones.

Overall, he's really just in such a great head space for a forward that you want the ball in his hands around goal, because you know that good things will come of it.

All forwards are there to kick, create and/or assist goals, if your in the 50 mtr area and you are at best advantage to goal, go for it. Fritta is a master of this with his sublime skills and a cool head.He is also there for setting up others, leading out of areas to suit others, tackle, chase etc. Under rated at this too

The media pulled 2 or 3 shocking decisions by Fritta and made a story for click bait, and others fell for it. He is a gun who needs to learn, develop further and fall not into the media circus as he did afterwards trying to play too unselfish.

The best medium forward in the game!!

Thanks, Monbon; a nice watch (the joyful crowd backdrop of the finger-poining celebration of the last goal (sadly just before the final demise) provided a family pic for my screensaver).

And extra thanks: Telemann's '12 Fantasias for Flute without Bass' provided a musical backdrop of exactly the right length!

I urge you to explore Fasch: there's plenty on YouTube, look out for the Overtures...

Wrong on two fronts IMO Mon.

There were 2/3 glaring examples of selfishness the Handball miss to Petracca 15 m out and he would have run into a an open goal is the worst, another from memory was a pass instead of a shot which he flummed.

The reason  you are saying that it is I guess you are only watching the ACTUAL  goals not the assists which is what he was carpeted for. I know that would never have happened in 2021 for sure.

Kossie can burn teammates when he tries goal snaps from the pockets sometimes but he rarely if never misses the very obvious assists.

The other statement on losses to teams we beat is only half right. We lost to Brisbane in Finals and beat them in R23 by 64 pts. Lost to Swans in Finals after we lost to them in R12.

Hope you enjoyed 55 wonderful Fritta goals from a very underrated player anA grader I regard.

And you would have enjoyed your music at the same time  a couple of very underrated artists as well.

The problem with the Petracca one was simply that he missed the shot himself. As we can see from the highlights reel, he made up for that with many many goals from difficult shots.

The problem is, criticism like this meant that he then spent several games giving off to other players, when he should have taken the shot himself,  only to watch them miss it, and, and some cases, lose us the game. He is paid to kick goals, not to assist.

He is a talent at a level above most competitors - we do not want to overlook him (Fritta) at any stage of a game or season. Gutsy, highly competent, opportunistic and reliable. The only forward who bothers to find space, make space and get the job done - most times, effortlessly. With a strengthening forward line and hopefully, a better game plan through half-back to deep forward, Fritta will have even more freedom to cut loose. He is starting to look like - and be as effective as - Gerard Healy up forward when playing for the red'nblue.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
