Meh. At what point do we stop this? Big profit this year. Is this really necessary? It certainly isn’t translating into much local support.

I would strongly recommend that any demons that haven’t been to Alice it is a great opportunity to visit the Red Centre and get to see the Dees play at an excellent Regional ground. The indigenous kids love the game and if you are as fortunate as us you could get to stay in the same Resort as the team. I would also recommend a visit to Stanley Chasm and Simpson Gap via a bus tour whilst in Alice Springs a real eye opener and quite emotional.❤️💙

Building our membership base can only be a good thing, and we do get a replacement home game.

Why would we stop it? Even if it doesn’t turn into memberships, this is always a symbolically powerful game to embrace Alice Springs - a place that loves footy and gets little love back.

Also, we don’t turn up to GWS/Freo/Port/GC games at the G so we’re not missing much.

I guess am more than indifferent about it…

Hopefully either this game is a twilight or night game or we have a 7 day break the next week.

I can’t help but think we ran out of gas against the Dogs (round 19) after playing in 25 degree heat 6 days earlier.

Yeah, I hear that.

I guess I feel like it’s hard for us to be perceived as a more powerful club when the general population turns on the TV and watches us play a home game in front of 4000 people, 3000 of whom are barracking for the opposition.

I also feel like every argument made for this focuses on the community engagement aspect. I’m not convinced we should be the only club doing that, when the big clubs do absolutely nothing, and don’t get asked.

I know the club speaks favourably about it, so they must enjoy it. 👍

we've won our last 5 games at treager park so in terms of maximising our ladder position it's a real positive

Love that we are back to Alice Springs.  Very supportive of the  I’ve been to Darwin twice back a few years ago and enjoyed it.  Hopefully I can get time to get to the Alice game in the next year or so.  

I have no clue but would assume the club chats with the footy dept. and players. Players seem to like playing at Alice and we go OK there so I have no problem in us playing someone like GWS in Alice.

That is so true Mono the day we did Simpson Gap it was -5oC T 6:30 and a pleasant 22 when we got back.!!

“There is not a financial need now, but as a choice - we talked about it, and we involved the footy department as well - and we have no plans to stop playing that game. It’s something that we think is culturally important for the club. We are invested in that decision.”

Grow up, Andrew!   

The Alice, is a ripper place to visit, espcially when we play. The club has done so much good work with the locals. I think of the initiative to grass the Santa Maria oval was a stand out. The enjoyment of watching the kids at the game, they know their football, and we do have quite a large following, which is growing.

Looks like it’s here to stay. I look forward to watching us travel around Australia every week in July and August while Geelong play their last 12 games within an hour of their homes. Won’t frustrate me at all.

Agreed. If this game is to be played away yearly. Then it must fall before the Bye, otherwise we put ourselves at an automatic disadvantage

Needs the actual date and time to be announced asap.

Booking flights and accommodation (even buying a game ticket) is not the easiest.

Big supporter of this game and well marketed it has the chance to be a TV blockbuster (not sure GWS is a great choice but for around $750k from the NT govt you can understand why)

I don’t think there will be 3000 supporter for GWS this year - nevertheless, I find it embarrassing when we play in the caverness MCG in front of 20k against these teams…

We will never be in that ‘most powerful’ club echelon and we have to reconcile that - we have our own place and we are shoring up our club while also winning, starting the women’s game, and driving into NT, raising money for BCNA and Reach, and FightMND.

We do ok.

Was lucky enough to watch live last year and the locals love it and glad the club is doing this again.

Hopefully the match will be part of Indigenous round.

And yet St Kilda (who need the money way more than us these days) have canned "home" games interstate.

(don't disagree with us playing up there BTW)
