Take that Freo

They took Hugh Davies at pick 33, who probably has more exposed form and is a bit more of a rebounder and running defender. I reckon Adams clunks his marks with more authority and has that nice left foot boot. Will be interesting to see how they develop.

JT was just saying he has played key forward.

Seems to kick long and accurately over mid to long distances, as well. Great ball drop technique already established. Options really do abound. Passes off, nicely, by hand and foot.

Happy with the pick. We now have Turner, Petty and Adams as the pillars of defense for many future years.

Casey

B: Adams, Turner, J.Smith

HB: Rivers, Tomlinson, McVee

C: Howes, Dunstan, Woewodin

HF: Chandler, van Rooyen, Melksham

F: Moniz-Wakefield, Schache, Jefferson

FOLL: Farris-White, Jordon, Laurie

IC: D.Smith, N\A, N\A, N\A

Absolute talent with experience scatted within. The  good vibes are bound to be infectious amongst them and competition or readiness for call-ups are even more healthy.

Welcome to the Dees Jed Adam’s, to me Adams appears a bit more mature than MJ and he mentioned that he had played ruck/forward as well. Looks like a great pickup  by the recruiters. Feeling much better about the composition of our list now, just like another young ruck then go hard at the mids, flankers next year.

Adams was most probably a key 'smokey' in the draft. We had a good deal of focus on forwards, but our backs required reinforcement for the immediate and future years. Most teams attempted to emulate our midfield resources whilst JT broadened our focus to end-to-end strengthening, once these two great selections have developed and assimilated with the overall team focus. We might have picked up a couple of genuine 'winners'. Well done, JT.

What impressed me the most about his highlights was his marking, agility and disposal by hand and foot.

If he has modelled his game on Steven May then he has almost mastered it at a young age.

Seeing a few Lever comparisons here, from the looks of it his one one defending is his main strength with an intercepting flavour. Sounds more like May

Physical and tough tall defender who is aggressive in his approach and on field direction.

Actually love this pick because of a future replacement for May.

Played WAFL league this year so has already played against men.

If he keeps his body injury free, would not be surprised to see him play a senior game.

Spot on.  Small sample size watching his highlights, but has Jason Taylor woken up this morning thinking he's won tattslotto?

How did Adams get passed to Pick 39 will be a story of the future.

The injury angle just reminds me of Joel Selwood being passed on by 6 clubs because of injury.  Smart Geelong knew better.

Well done to JT and team.

Whilst we're in the 'window ' now, the next few years will be fascinating also from watching some real talent develop under the mentoring of a premiership cohort and AA experience.

Wants to play like Steven May. Born in Kalgoorlie and from Mandurah. Might not be in such a rush to get back to Perth.

Interesting article. I wondered how we got a photo of him in the red and blue so quickly, it appears we gave him the wink and nod on Saturday. Clearly targeted by JT.

The way he runs and elevates for intercept marks does have some similarities to Lever, but I think it’s clear we want him to be an understudy to May.

Freo supporters are dirty they didn't pick up Adams.

Reading through their draft thread they wanted him over Hugh Davies who is the WA defender who conceded 7 goals to Matt Jefferson.

"Melbourne take Jed Adams."

"Is Adams going to be Naughton mk II?"

"Adams gone, no one ask me anything draft related I'm too busy crying"

"The Adams vs Davies discussions are going to be.... fun..."

This one is my favourite..

"Worst off season since we [censored] a flag up the ******* wall on Jesse POS Hogan

I hope so...

Certainly got a good set of hands and doesn't mind backing himself.

Intercepts like Lever, Marks like Petty and accurate left foot kick like May.  At pushing 90Kgs could play next year if he shows form.  Great pick up that covers a lot of needs.

Gee hate to think what they are going to say about Jacko when/if he doesn't deliver to their lofty expectations

Jed and the Dees will have the last laugh when ( not if) he finally replaces the great Stephen May as our full back ( or CHB). Wonderful selection with JT written all over it and makes our "battle" with Freo in trade and recruit selection an early success.

PS Remember FF Matt Jefferson utilised No 13 our pick from the Dogga trade back to Freo.

So many one-touch marks where he has also met the ball at full stretch and timing.

That's definitely one of those deep-rooted traits that are very difficult to develop once you're already an adult.

Good cloth and our defence program seems to be pretty good at tailoring it.

Par contre, it suggests more humble origins and most importantly a great sense of humour. Love to be a fly on the wall when Jed and Max first get together. Vive le gars différent.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
