Actually think BBB is alot better once the ball hits the ground than many give him credit for.  Yes he looks awkward, but in my view he has brilliant footy sense that means even when he misses the mark, he knows where to go to put himself in dangerous positions to stay in the contest and be useful option in chains that end up in goals, whether he's the one kicking them or some deft tap ons to others.  Don't think he would have been the leading goal kicker in the league over a period of 3 years if he was a one trick pony and couldn't do stuff off the ground.  I also think he's an absolute asset and great teacher for guys like JVR in this respect.

Fully agree RG

I watched Max chase someone (I can't remember who) flat out for about 40 meters on the grandstand wing. The coaches applauded his effort. It was in the second half and was a huge effort. I wonder if that's what caused the tightness?

No update on Lever, or J Smith, or anyone else missing training but an immediate press release for Gawn? For an injury (if conventional) that will be healed well before round 1.

I’m worried that it’s a big hammy.

Fingers crossed it’s not the hammy he torn badly a couple of years back... Yeah it’s seems only Jan 20th not biggie but missing a minimum of 3-4 weeks at this time of year is a [censored] time. Playing catch up for the first part of the season.

And just like that, found my MFCSS again!

If it’s a bad hammie, like real bad… having Grundy and Schache might help a few with MFCSS.

I saw Gawn run off.  He ran at a good pace without showing discomfort.

I'd be shocked if it's a bad hamstring considering how he left the field.  I'm guessing a minor twinge or a regulation 21 day recovery.

He can regain any lost conditioning by lining up in the goal square for a month or so... Cue sound of fullbacks' knees knocking (each other, not Max's back).

@Gator, thanks for that. Though I do recall Stephen May came off pretty comfortably with what proved to be somewhat spectacular! (though somewhat short of the leg injury a first glance at your avatar suggested to me!)

The press release is the only reason I am panicking. Why even mention it when the season is still far enough away that a regulation hammy will be well healed in time for round 1?

Otherwise a journo goes with it first and makes it sound a lot worse.

my understanding is hamstring injury time is related to age of player and size of hamstring.

given it's maxxy (whose hamstring is longer than my whole body) this could take years to heal 🥵

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
