Personally Iโ€™m glad both are still around, even if they have their reasons for not posting. I butted heads with @beelzebuba bit back in the day, but I have no hard feelings at all. Weโ€™re all Demons and my opinion, all fundamentally on the same side at heart.

Moderating the forum was a hard and busy job in the early days, @Rhino Richards was one of the few that had the stomach for it. I am personally thankful he was around and I wish heโ€™d pop his head in from time to time.

I hope both those guys enjoyed the flag.

ย

I can vouch that @Rhino Richards did.

I'm also one of those who migrated over but it had been so long I was starting to wonder if I'd made up the migrating thing in my head or if I'd actually just made a new account at the time. Glad to have it confirmed that I'm not losing my mind.ย

I apparently signed up early 2006. My god thatโ€™s a long time ago. My username was referring to the great Travis Johnstone. At the time Travis was my favorite player and was the most exciting demon going round. He had just had a few great years where he lead the league for inside 50s and score assists. His kicking was sublime and he was impacting games in a way I hadnโ€™t seen before. I loved watching him stream down the wing of the G and blast laser passes through Neitzโ€™s chest. He also stood up in big games, and was always amongst our best in finals matches. After decades of failure and no superstars, it felt like we finally had a superstar midfielder on our hands.ย

History shows he didnโ€™t reach those superstar heights weโ€™d dreamed of, and it would take another 15 years until we had our superstar midfielders in Oliver and Petracca. I still love Travis though and feel heโ€™s underrated by demon fans and football public in general.ย

As for me, much like Travisโ€™ form, my mood and posting is very up and down!

I still haven't seen anyone else kick a footy like Trapper did since, there have been some excellent field kicks like Davey and Green but there was something about Trav's ability to really spear it low and hard and it was impossible to defend. I didn't see the best of Robbie Flower but I remember being at the G for a Queen's birthday game around 2006 and guy next to me was telling us all about how watching Robbie on his day was like seeing someone floating on air. I never forgot it because TJ went out that day and had a sublime performance, I wondered at the time if that was the closest comparison to the great tulip I was going to see live.ย

Travis had as much talent as anyone who has ever played for this football club, make no mistake about it.ย

Unrelated: Iโ€™ve never asked you about your username. Did you choose it because youโ€™re lazy? Is it that simple? And why the spelling?

When I first started on all these boards I was a very young teen who was very into the Hip-hop group Bone Tungs N Harmony and my name is in reference to Layzie Bone one of the members of the group! I thought about changing it many times over the years but never bothered and now it's at the point where I can't change it, despite the fact that I very rarely listen to Bone Thugs these days it would feel like changing my real name! I don't even particularly like it at times and even think it's silly but it's been so long it feels like being born with it and you just have to embrace it!

Trapper's sublime skill (never seen in another player) was to be able to kick to a position on the field that would drag the player to the ball. That he did not fulfill his promise was due more to the inability of the coaches and his team mates to recognise and play to his strengths.

As for talent - no one comes close to Robbie. But Trapper is in the next group.

Agree with all of the above, expect for one thing - i reckon not fulfilling his promise was on Trapper.ย  Always struck me as a stoner in an elite AFL player's bodyย

Best subtle name change was Big_red_fire_engineย (Broady) toย @Lil_red_fire_engine(Bowser) late last year in the run towards the flag. This is correct @Nasher

Youโ€™ve only got six posts to go. Carn fellah, letโ€™s have a back n forth to get you there! Okay, Iโ€™ll start it: so, whatโ€™s it like to NOT feel you have to post every single thought you have or have ever had? Asking for a friend who likely clocked up 100 posts in the first 10 minutes of joining DL. ๐Ÿ˜

I figure there's enough stream of consciousness already on DL, I don't think my own would be particularly useful. I originally joined just to post my Mitch Hannan titanic remix video. I didn't realise that my dees supporting mate in Amsterdam already had a very similar username (HELLO @AmDamDemon). So now I've just got a few posts to go before I can change it to something less similar to his.

Five posts left! Cake. Have you already decided on a new name? How about an avatar this time? Answer these questions in separate posts and youโ€™re down to three! ๐Ÿ˜

A poster from Amsterdam might consider adopting the username "Far Canal".

It is with a mixture of despondency and embarrasment that I have to confess that my username is my first name and the initial of my second.

I was going to use Nowcmonthemightydemons but at my age it is best to use something I can effn remember.ย  And luckily I still remember my name.

Correct - @DeelightfulPlayย supporter of many long years - still have my footy records from the 70sย ๐Ÿ˜€

One of my greatest regrets. I started going every week in Robbie's first year but didn't keep the footy records. Would have loved to have kept the record of the games I had gone to. Also my members card back then which got you into every home and away game. They used to click off the ones you'd been to on your card. Oh well. Unfortunately I remember a lot of them. We lost 22 in a row in my first two years. We had one win to break that run and went back to losing.ย

Can you get your mind out of the um canal?ย ย ๐Ÿ˜›

If I was in AmDam I would have chosen NightWatch but perhaps clog would be closer to the mark.

Mine is too easy. Just my initials and the last time we beat "the filth" in a grand final. Still etched in my mind.

Continuing somewhat off topic (and answers will no doubt be dotted elsewhere around 'Land): As a 50s child, blessed with a 50-year-MCC-member grandfather, I am in awe of those who managed to choose, and rust themselves onto, the Dees of that sorry score of (scoreless?) years from the mid 60s to the mid 80s. • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturdayโ€™s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFLโ€™s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
