What about our work with the Santa Teresa project that's been now successfully ongoing for 5 years  through the work of our Aboriginal Liaison Officer Matthew Whelan who's done a power of work with not only our indigenous players but reconnecting past culture to our present day players.

https://www.melbournefc.com.au/support-the-club/santa-teresa-oval-project

Or what about our Reconciliation Plan where our reconciliation is to unite Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with non-Indigenous people through the great game of AFL, to truly embrace history, culture and community.

https://www.melbournefc.com.au/reconciliation-action-plan

Or what about our football club becoming the first historical  club in AFL history in rebranding our name to the Narrm Football Club throughout the year.

https://www.melbournefc.com.au/indigenous#about

Taking a chance on Stack? No different how's we've taken a chance on the likes of Harley Bennell a d Liam Jurrah when no one else wanted to take the risk.

I think our football club celebrates our indigenous heritage far better then any club in the league and this is pretty evident.

But that's just me personally.

Not to mention the work done by the Essendon FC over the journey. There’s lots of great work being done across the league. There’s also a long way to go!

I get very solid info from the Tigers’ camp, and….

I’m not too into this idea.

They also with their recent midsize on all flanker style recruiting be very choosy who they retained. Dimma  has had his say that Tigers have had too many variables on their list.

Risk vs Reward ?

Maysie     Big tick flag and cup!!

Bennell     Great try but fail

Tommy Bugg    Half a tick then a fail

Lachie Hunter   28 snd should be a big tick flag and cup twice achiever and driver.

Kossie    Adapted for an 18 yo to Melb city life as much as can be expected. Keep on going with the support big time.Massive tick hug and a flag and cup and more to come.

Gawnie    Years of hard work but let's be honest he made a choice to be a legend plus a bloody good player. Champion with 3 ticks and hopefully 3 Flags and 3 Cups. Very rare air!!!  (RDB  Tulip and Stynes say hi welcome Maxy!!)

Lets give Sydney some TLC and Demon Culture and he might help deliver a package ( Flag and Cup)

Richmond have the best Indigenous set up in the country. If they don’t think he’s worth the hassle any more than he probably isn’t.

Look at his VFL stats, he should’ve built fitness and got consistent games later in the year and he never did.

Tigers now have too or so many other options in classy small mids and flankers any warts are optional and chosen now to be delisted.

I would be concerned with his affect on Kozzie, negative or positive. If it’s the latter you would consider.

Dimma said he had too many players that were unstructured. He obviously meant uncoachable.

Wouldn’t worry too much about that, matey.

Pickett will only be on our list for one more season anyway :p

Really, typical of the pessimism on this site.

Harley Bennell #2?

In all seriousness he's one player I'd be happily take a risk on.

Kind of player that could easily become a Tyson Stengle like recruit with fresh environment and good solid father figures in Mark Williams and Matthew Whelan.

One player I've always been impressed with and his 2019 year was very impressive for a first year.

It's worth a crack, I'd back in our footy department but judging by his tiktok account i reckon he wouldn't mind flying under the radar in Qld or NSW.

Do you think Kozzie will stay DD?

No reason at the moment to think he won't and yes I know the media will be questioning it non stop but they don't make the player's decisions nor do they offer contracts.

People can send themselves crazy by worrying about if this or that player is going re-sign or *iss off.

I'm not much a Social Media guy so I don't see these things much but it's sounding like his Tik Tok is next level in terms of unwanted attention?

No different to any other 21-year-old Layz. If he wasn’t being considered as a possible addition to an AFL club no one would bat an eyelid.

I think SS would be a good addition to our Club. His attitude and behavioural issues have been brought up as a potential problem. I believe that if he comes to us, these issues wouldn’t be a thing. How so? Two words: Brendan McCartney.

Having had the honour of meeting BMc at an event a couple of months ago, I don’t think there’s a player in the entire league that he couldn’t put and then keep on the straight and narrow, so to speak. I told him how well-mannered and mature all the boys whom I had met that morning were. He barked rather than spoke his reply, “You know the ‘No D***head Policy’? Yeah well that still applies now as much as it ever has!!!” He has a gruff way about him which is at first a little unsettling. He is a “tough love” kind of person. He went on to tell me about some things that needed to be, and were changed upon his arrival at the MFC, which resulted in our current standards of player behaviour.

I reckon that he is a large part of the reason our players are not in the headlines for all the wrong (off-field) reasons. I walked away from him in awe. And a little frightened. 😁

I thought Brendan Mccartney wasn't at MFC anymore.

Officially he’s not. But in every other way he is, or so it seemed. He and Goody are clearly really close friends, he [censored]-stirs Goody mercilessly. 😂 But yeah, he was involved in this particular training session as much as the other coaches.

If he wants to fly under the radar then he would be best not on TikTok.

I’d happily have stack as a train on player starting in the early preseason. Have him spend the summer paired up with jack viney and have them repeatedly fight for ground balls rolled between them, starting face to face. If he lives through to February, then consider giving him a rookie contract.

Did you deliberately pick JV because SS will remember his great tackle/ bump on Jack in the 2019 Anzac Eve game which put him out of business for a while.

Stack  May ask for Trac or Ollie or Hibbo on that basis TEIN, having seen Jack off already.

so dazzle, what do you think? should we rookie him?

he's obviously oozing with talent, but do you know much about his other "issues"?

Yes I would personally. Immensely talent and only have to go back to his debut year in 2019 to see otherwise. Should be a premiership player had it not been for injury.

I'm not entirely sure the severity of his issues so I can't comment on that.

He, imo has the talent to have a break put year Tyson Stengle like with the right support behind him.

This is where Mark Williams and Matghew Whelan become crucial.

If Syd Stack comes to the Demons he’ll have the dubious title of “Only Demons Player I’ve Had A Cigarette With”.

 (I’ve since quit)

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
