Hope the coach gives Kozzy the occasional short run on the ball (particularly the occasional centre bounce) to get him up and about.

Why, when he has he does nothing he ain't a midfielder..

Hoping the battle hardened way will prevail over the easy way. I know we’re carrying injuries but I live in hope.

Not thinking ahead too much but by the time prelim day hits Geelong will have played 1 game in a month and 1 competitive game in 6 weeks.

Agree, one game at a time

Pretty sure it comes from english slang.  to 'bottle it', is to choke or lose your nerve. not only in sporting terms. ie. didn't have the nerve to ask a girl out

Funnily enough, when I hear the expression "bottle it" it's being used in a positive sense, meaning that whatever is being praised is good enough to put into bottles and sell, just like a good wine.

We always have a secret weapon when we play Brisbane. That weapon is Joe Daniher.

Hoping for some more slapstick magic and hand on hips second efforts from him tonight.

Weather wise things looking good.  Only one forecast, Access G3 (which draws data from BOM and unfortunately tends to be the most accurate) predicts a small shower (0.2mm) at around 8pm.

So no excuses, rock up and be very loud!

I got Melbourne on my mind. Though the story of royalty makes it hard to be 100%.

Pressure, run, transition well from attack and defence, get over the nerves quickly, play in the moment and take the opportunities.

It will be a tough game, fighting for everything.

We are a proven big game team and must go in with plenty of confidence.

I want our leaders and best, to take it up to them and have great games. They will drag the rest with them.

C'mon coaches, make the decisions quickly about our style and structure during the game. Get them up and successful.

Go Dees!

Time to get fair dinkum. No picking and choosing to play our best.  I want to see our run of success continue.

Make decisions about style and structure?

Seriously?

Now Captain Conservative has stopped" loading "do you reckon he's going to  ring left field changes to an  unchanged team

I am hoping if it's close  he'll do a Rohan with 2 minutes on the clock and kick the goal to seal it.

He's been trying for mark of the year for two seasons now so it's time he actually catches one.

Mind you his block to let Trac do his Daicos snr goal last year was pretty snazzy   much unrecognised and gave a needed boost to Tracs goal kicking reputation (!!!)

Semi final losers usually come out venomous the next week, I hope the boys can do the same.

I would really like it to NOT be close. A win with minimal effort would be much better.

Don’t boo Zorko!

It’ll just fire  him up, and he’s a dangerous player.

Spread the word…..DON’T boo  Zorko.

Sounds like something Zorko would post....suspicious

Tonight’s banner has a stunning pic of Lever, Maxy, Dogga and Tracc. It will look spectacular when raised. (I’m sure other teams’ cheer squads must be envious of our banners. We’re blessed to have in the DA a rusted-on Dees diehard who runs a printing company, and the quality of his work is next level.)

And to the left of the pic there’s written in huge letters:

WE’RE NOT DONE YET!

I can’t remember exactly the wording on the flip side (even though I cut the letters out 🤭) but I do know it includes the words ‘unbeatable’ and ‘repeatable’ so one gets the gist of it. ❤️💙

i can see 2, maybe 3 gingers in that pic, wcw. so, which one is the famous wcw?

They still control the reigns on game day. Now the squad is selected the aspects of going in unchanged is irrelevant.

Would prefer them to make actions then sit on their hands (which they have done in the past), if Brissy starts taking control or we need to get rolling.

You want them to be non proactive or reactive?

Maybe you misinterpreted my intentions, or you are holding onto something about the coaches?

In style, the tempo, take it on, play percentages,

In structure, extra players at the contest, or in defence,  push up the field from defense, crowd the ball, play one on one.

I could keep going, I hope you get my gist.

The coaches have to make quick decisions during the game and not just let it roll on.

That is my opinion (seriously), if joking I would have said bring Yze on as our med sub.

Daniher listed as Out for Personal Reason (AFL App)

Any ideas?

He may be an out (according to SEN).

Manic effort and pressure from start to finish tonight Dees. Drop it off and we're toast.

We need to win or our season is over.

No more excuses!

Fire up Demons! 🔴🔵👹

Time to make a statement at the MCG tonight!

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front.  They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
