Goody gets us a flag, backs it up by finishing second and still gets little respect on here

truly bizarre

And with that, Brisbane went from $3.15 to $3.45. Go figure that out

A lot thought we might lose Trac, lever etc.

of course we are more favoured with our best team in. Only DL folks can’t see that

Coaching and game plan are boring as hell and so is Simon.

How on earth we go into tomorrow's games with half our list banged up and so many ordinary performances last week with unchanged line up is utter bizarre.

I'll get more enjoyment watching Casey on Saturday then I will tomorrow.

Can we switch Ooozzze to senior coach before he departs?!

Mmm. Despite some strong arguments against, I'll back in our premiership coach. If it doesn't pan out, it doesn't pan out. Been a great year and I'm grateful to everyone at our club for making it what it is.

P.S I reckon it'll pan out.

We are bruised and battered. No doubt about it. Pride is the only thing that may get them trough.

We haven't been able to run out a tight game since the first half of the year

The ones complaining about our lack of changes are likely, I suspect, to respond to the semi as follows:

  1. If we lose - all hell breaks loose
  2. If we win by a small amount - pathetic, we beat them by 10 goals twice this year, we're no chance against Geelong
  3. If we wi by a big amount - who cares, we beat them by 10 goals twice this year, means nothing

I'm not going to put these selections and conservative approach purely on Goodwin.

I think this is collectively a coaching group decision as a whole.

Oh I'm too chicken [censored] to answer your question lol

We didn't struggle to run out the Collingwood or Carlton games.

We struggled to win them but we didn't see the same physical drop off that we saw vs Sydney last week.

Staggering that so many on here can't see what's directly in front of them.

We are not a premiership side this year. We may get over the Lions this week, and that has been well analyzed by a few on here who have mentioned the low pressure game that Brisbane play and that we thrive on.

But as Colonwood and Sydney have shown very clearly this year, we are far from elite when it comes to moving the ball under intense pressure, particularly from the midfield into the forward line.

As much as it pains me, it's Geelong/Colonwood/Sydney for premiers this year. We are making up the numbers.

Hard to argue with this, isn't it? Premiers then backing up to finish second, in such a competitive environment. Not too bad.

I anybody mildly concerned about Petracca playing with a fractured in his leg. I know its if, buts and maybes, but I'm tipping Brisbane with target him and and test that leg out consistently throughout the night. Its not that hard to turn a hairline in a major break that could ruin his ability to play next year. Also why would the club advertise the fact he has a fracture, would have thought talking about the calf instead would have been more sensible.

This is actually my biggest worry. That the fracture is actually more than they are letting on, but they were a bit slow in shifting the PR focus to “we are more worried about the corked calf”

If a reasonable person went on the fact that we got screwed by maggots we should win by 47 points

How Melksham and Spargo both stay is the eight wonder of world! Also no way would I have risked tracc. MADNESS!

I was ready to get rid of Spargo  but thought he was one of our better players against Sydney

Melksham on the other hand has been good in previous weeks but was horrible against Sydney

Agree wit Tracca huge risk, hopefully the medical know something we don’t

Are you advocating an opposition player trying to maim one of our players?

Well the Dr would be deemed negligent to allow x person to play. I'm not worried.

The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over again and expect a different result. The same with selection, pick the same team comprehensively beaten last week and go in with the same again? Goodwin I know you got us to the pinnacle but surely you can adapt to change and reading the landscape. #straightsetsout #underwhelming

Not sure the defeat was comprehensive

No surprises.

Simon Goodwin likes a stable team.

Would of liked to roll the dice with Tom McDonald but I guess he needs another run in the VFL for match fitness.

Just hope all our forwards have their goal kicking boots on this Friday.

No more excuses for Alex Neal-Bullen and Jake Melksham. They need to perform!

Fingers crossed Christian Petracca can have a significant impact too. 🤞

Exactly.  I am truly dreading what level the ‘veil of negativity’ may possibly reach when we  line up for the preliminary final next week.

I’m nerrrrvous and excited about tomorrow’s game. Let’s go DEES!!!

If we go out in straight sets then this has been an unbelievably poor season considering we were 10-0.

Understand the sentiment, but we've had a few injuries and disruptions in the back half of the year - OK, not many, but enough to key players to be disruptive, May, Tom Mac and Ben Brown in particular.

Not surprised or disappointed but we really need a lift in output from a few players

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
