Wolf of Wall street

It's got a bit of "heart beats true" about it too

The Wolf of Wall Street was funded by stolen money from the Malaysian government. (1MDB)

Ex PM finally started a 12 year prison stretch last night.

OK @WalkingCivilWar and others from the Demon Army:

the players are doing this after a win:

ย

Can the Army start it it the crowd so that it becomes our mark

What a great idea! Iโ€™m gonna suggest it right now on our WhatsApp chat!!!ย

ย

I dunno about this ideaโ€ฆ itโ€™s the playersโ€™ thing and I believe they do it if they keep the opposition below 60 points.
ย

Would love to see it once in the crowd with 2 minutes left in a grand final weโ€™re about to win but I feel if we see it done 5 times a week in the crowd it kinda cheapens a concept they clearly bond around.

Agree It's ย the players private celebrationย

Supporters can do it any time they want after a win etc.ย

Inspiringย

Memory is a little foggy from the broadcast, but didn't they say it was more about winning and keeping the oppo under 60 points? I think it might have been Nathan Jones who talked about it pre-game somewhere.

ย

Iโ€™m concerned about bruising my prominent pecs

Maybe it's just me, but that would have seemed a more appropriate celebration for the 2006 West Coast Eagles to engage in considering the contents of what Matthew McConaughey spoke about in that restaurant.

That said, I reckon we should do it if we knock off the Filth. Rightly or wrongly, they consider us bourgeoise scum. I say we throw that back in their face in a manner they hate.

100% it was this.

well actually 99% it was this - I think it was 63 points (as their average)...anyway, it wasn't the win, it was the defensive effort they celebrated.

I read the book before the movie came out. Great read, ordinary movie.

Personally, like the Dogs and "Freed From Desire", it's best kept out of the public's eye.ย

Yeah, great to see it but I'd have preferred it kept under wraps.
Surprised they left the door open TBH.

Diamond - was that funding for the movie or for the wolf himself?

Love our team song, hate the delivery. ย What I mean by this is that music that accompanies the words and the way it is sung is so 1950ish for the want of better words. It is so last century, tired , old, way past its use by date. Not inspiring at all. Iโ€™m an old bugger and I reckon itโ€™s old!

Please donโ€™t get me wrong, I wouldnโ€™t change one word, itโ€™s perfect, in fact I believe it should never ever be changed. ย Itโ€™s just the delivery.

When our boys โ€˜singโ€™ it in the rooms after a big win it is like a war cry, a chant, bearing no resemblance to what is played over the PA system at the G that we try and sing to.ย

I love hearing some of our younger crew belting out the words on train going home after a big win. The tempo that they deliver it in is exactly how team belts it out. Sounds great.

Would love to see some professional musicians bring the โ€˜tuneโ€™ into the 21st century. The formula is already there, up the tempo, modernise the music ย so that it matches what our boys do. That way it would be a powerful chant that we could get going at the end of the game.

Could you imagine if the music was modified and played on the PA after a win at the G. I could really imagine the vast majority of our supporter base ripping into the โ€˜chantโ€™ (rather than try and โ€˜singโ€™ it). ย  Combine it with beating our hearts. It could be our new trade mark. ย It would be magnificent and intimidating all at the same time. ย (Bit like the INXS theme that Port do at the start of their home games, it is just so effective).

If you donโ€™t like the idea and think it should all stay the way it had been, all good.ย

Ah yes, 'modern' theme songs, what could go wrong....

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, weโ€™ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binmanโ€™s Stats Files. Not because it isnโ€™t important; quite the opposite. Itโ€™s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.
