Decided to have a peek at this again, and they truly are a delusional bunch of supporters wanting Hird back 🤦‍♂️ But if it keeps them down for a bit longer then great!

Ben Rutten might have been the only person who wanted that job. Is it too late to ask him back..

Hird maybe the only person who could do it.
nobody wants to go near it, and can you blame them!

Did you see Ross Lyon talking about it on Tuesday? Might as well have said . . . "what a clusterpukc . . . no phukkkking way".

That gave me a good laugh when I heard him.  (He doesn't make me laugh much.)

Hird should have been run out of town on a rail, but there he is, still in the AFL coaching system. Given that that's not going to change, the best use of his talents is back at his spiritual home, running them into the ground and setting them back even more years.

Heard on the radio a theory that "someone" at Ess might be sabotaging their bright and shiny coach selection process to ensure that all the other viable candidates are discouraged, leaving only one man standing ....

As Ross Lyon said, if you are not an 'Ess 'person',  after a couple of years you get spat out even if you make finals:  Knights, Worsfold and Rutten.

They did a lot better than their 'Ess people':  Hird, Bomber.

Stay away Adem!

This headline today in the Hun. Hird PR campaign in full flow, no doubt helped by Robbo. Essentially says that Hird made the mistake of being too trusting….

Honestly, by first stirring up media attention and making himself the front runner, then rejecting the entire process, Ross Lyon has actually confirmed that he is the perfect fit for Essendon.

But it does look like Hird will get the job.

After all, who better to return them to winning finals than the man who was their captain the last time they won a final?

In fairness it’s not Hird PR, it’s from the Howie games podcast which was taped in July and just it the podcast this week.

Best of luck to Hird if he wants to coach again, but could there be a worse place to do it? Either go for the redemption story at GWS where nobody knows who he is in the street OR come back to Victoria like the messiah (despite not having done much the first time around), have people yelling at you about drugs whenever you go into the supermarket, and be caught in a civil war in a few years where 25% of the fans want to sack him and the other 75% would kill to save him. Anyone who encourages him to take the Essendon job is a goose.

I think it is a Fantastic Employment opportunity for us all. We can all Unite and despise Essendrug to the core!! :)

I think the desire to bring Hird back into the fold at Essendon has led to a case of tone deafness.  If they turned up their hearing devices and listened to Zac Merrett's underwhelming response to the possibility of Hird being reappointed it would give them pause for consideration before they pulled that lever.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
