Ok if he got 15-20 possesions then you might MIGHT justify it but just take a look at his last 4 weeks, Surely he goes out. Disappeared after quarter time!

Change your out from SparGod to cardio king ANB and I'll sign the petition

May have cost us top 2 according to some

So we drop Stevic, as he caused the last one, overruling the umpire standing a few metres away, who paid a free for a dangerous tackle.

It was a blatant mistake by Stevic who said Rivers held the ball. Wrong, a dangerous tackle is not a legal one and he should have kept his whistle  out if it.

I am a confused with the first week of the finals. If the dees finish second, do they have the first week off?

I’m intrigued. How did you end up here, not knowing that?

I mean no offence, it’s just we’re a weird and tiny cul-de-sac in a much bigger city and you just asked for the name of the city.

We can tell you, sure, but came a long way down a bunch of weird roads to ask us…

No change other than Salem for me. The change I want to make is in a month for a Prelim on a certain CHF and I have no idea who to drop…

I think Stevic's argument was that Rivers dropped the ball before the tackle became dangerous.

It probably wasn't holding the ball at all though (pretty sure it was knocked out in the tackle).

The tackle has to be completed legally before a htb gets paid, even if it’s paid first the dangerous tackle then overrules it. Very well could be wrong but I thought the second free was high contact on a different  player not dangerous tackle, in which case the first free probably stands

Will depend a lot on the next game and of course Tommy playing some decent footy at Casey.

If we play like last night there will be no change. Richo kind of hinted at this on SEN today.

If we lose the first final and the forward line isn't functioning then the spot opens up.

IN: salem

This.

This thread could go 100 pages but we all know it’s Salem in for Bowey.

Tom is unlikely to hit his straps week one.

It's not his habit these days

No change, Bowey and Rivers were a great rebounding option and connected really well. Salem has been getting better since a number of issues, and he applies a lot of pressure, but it was Bowey’s best game of the year he was so clean. Damn hard choice as I love Salem. I also had Tmac coming in for BBB (if fit) but BBB also played his best game of the year. Melks has done everything asked. ANB is a defensive forward and his work is immense. Spargo has the neatest F50 entries. I still think Harmes might be dropped depending on matchups.

Also - Tmac could make a useful sub with his utility abilities.

For mine, Bowey stays in.  His disposal efficiency is a bit better than Salem's last game; 82% to 72%.  And his choice of target is elite.  Best to see Salem in the VFL for a week or two.

Spargo had a quiet game but is a talisman for the side. I reckon when you see Spargo on the defensive 50, you know the boys are pressuring and we will win.

ANB was solid.

Melksham was quiet but still has a role. He will probably get squeezed out if TMAC reappears but the 5-6 weeks dropped to 2-3 weeks overnight so I wouldn't hold my breath.

So no changes.

Talk about maggots just making it up as they go.One free kick rule applies before another one. What a load of rubbish. There was two instances in last nights games where they did the opposite.

Salem probably will come back in but I thought bowiecwas good.

Anb won't be dropped even if his form isn't great.  Samecwith Spargo.

Good to see bbb back in form.

And Trac playing his best again.

Tracy being so unselfish was excellent, maturity is growing for the lads

Late game ANB really stood up because no one could run with him, he set up a few nice plays, he’s key for the late stages, as a benchman or on the field, I’m happy either way

Can you imagine the cheer when TMAC finally gets to run on the field, this year?

Do they cheer at Casey?

Yep! But I seriously doubt it will be before 2023.

Bowey is too good to drop. It will have to be someone else for Salem.

I’m intrigued by the level of expectation for a TMac return to the ones. I think if he achieved match fitness to make the team again this year will be a miracle, although I wouldn’t put it past him. But to also acquire the form required to break back into the current side, no matter how much we’d like that, would also be a miracle. I cannot remember the last good game TMac played. As such, I have no expectations for him this year.

Salem in,  crazy talk about him not being B22.

Bowie is unlucky but i think it is him that goes out.

Think that's the only change, i still worry about Melksham as our second tall, but can't drop him ATM

Obviously Bowey / Salem. Worry is Salem seldom plays well in matches after injury.

Going forward Melksham would be the likely out if TMac gets up but can’t see that happening with the way Melk has been playing.

Nibbler has given his blood, sweat and vomit for the dees. No way he gets dropped.

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
