The 1 key forward set up simply doesn't work. Why we have continued to run with this set up is mind boggling.

Whatโ€™s your proposal?

Forget Grundy.

Do whatever it takes to buy a genuine key forward.

Our forward line is a mess.

I canโ€™t stand our coaching anymore. Even if we win this, bombing long to small forwards like Spargo, with McGovern on him is bloody madness. Kick it low or wide to space.ย

We donโ€™t adapt to our selected side at all.

Our handball turnovers must be a world record.

Our disposal is garbage.

We are not a shadow of last yearโ€™s side the way we are playing.

Has Petracca had a touch?

Melksham and May good.

Jackson better.

Saad doing damage setting up.

Carlton ultra defensive, flooding back.

Brown's had 1 handball, 0 kicks, 0 marks.

If that was Weid his thread would have another 8 pages by now.

Yea true ..... they are as bad as each other now.

The big thing to watch is our 2nd half. Do we sit in an 8 point lead?ย
ย

Any other top4 team would be smashing the Blues by 10 goals right now.ย

My kingdom for a big marking forward.

(To be fair, both Max and Jacko have taken some great grabs ... but they can't kick straight.)

Anyone know if Saad or Weitering are injured? Or will they play the game out?

Tracc done little but Oliver has done everything and is everywhere.

Jacko has taken a couple of marks and missed both shots but has handballed to them at least 4 times.

[censored] we miss TMac.ย

We are too easy to defended against without another key forward, out numbered always at marking contests inside F50.

I feel like we havenโ€™t had a good forward 50 entry since 1987

Said looks very sore. Poor bloke.

I think Saad has a shirtful of sore ribs. Weitering seems ok

Saad definitely looks sore - maybe ribs or something.

Why was that โ€œa giftโ€ for fritta, he marked it anywayโ€ฆย

much happier about this game than the Collingwood and dogs games, blues without their stars are clearly playing as many tagging/negating roles as possible.ย

They wonโ€™t be able to keep it up the whole game. I think we will break away and win by 40+ keeping the blues to under 50 pointsย

Disagree, the way our forward line is playing & our kicking for goal Carlton will be in this to the end

They have 2 class forwards that can win the game off their own boot, we have Ben Brown๐Ÿ˜‚

Saad looked very sore after a contest or two after he came back on. Probing around his tummy and side. Not sure re Weitering.

The blues are applying some strong pressure. They are a good side.

Will they Fold?

I so hope so.

Unimaginative footy!!! Same ole, same ole.ย
ย

Itโ€™s like the term โ€œthe definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different ย resultโ€. Our win/loss in the last 10 weeks is less than 50%. Oppositions are working us out.

I get the game style is not completely broken, but make the opposition question or think we may change things up on occasion. Switch the ballโ€ฆโ€ฆ stop running forward up the line and get some ย spread. The midfield all run one way together forwardโ€ฆ. We ย do not have a crash and bash strong tall forward.

We have Melksham (playing well), Fritta and Brown who can lead if we only, on occasion spread it wide, and let them lead and mark. Itโ€™s better than relying on rucks marking and kicking behinds.ย

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
