Looks like a captains run at Gosch's.

They have two food/coffee trucks and the people are mingling, as we wait for the players to arrive.

Kev, I understand security have been alerted owing to the presence of one fanatical, but rather deranged supporter. As a word of warning, do not at any time stand between this supporter and Langers - you are likely to get mauled.

Good on you, Kev. I've just read the team selection thread which raises the possibility that Pickett may miss due to a knee concern. You know what we need you to look for...

Kossie is with them.

As is, Tomlinson, Laurie, JVR and Harmes.

Drills seemed to be focusing on, shimmy, quick direction changes and handballing.

Match sims (opponents being the coaches), was about backline structure and working the intercept, then using short kicks to spread, create overlap and to get the ball deep to the forwards.

I thought Jackson will be used more as a forward given the line squads.

Forwards working on getting front and centre.

Good atmosphere, felt like plenty of seriousness mixed with joviality. Their voice was loud and determined.

BBB didn't have strapping on and did not participate in the long runs. He practiced plenty of goal kicking with supervision.

An old coach, Macca visited them,  long talks with Goody and a few of the players were happy to see him.

The informal goal kicking had too many trying the miracle kick, (inside out banana) from the boundary. I guess they had 'fun'.

Was at training, as were a lot of the player sponsors.

I know it’s only training but everything seemed very low effort, not much concentration and intensity.

JVR has one of the worst kicking techniques I’ve seen looks so stiff, not sure I watched him kick one. Tracc’s kicking for goal was very good as was melksham.

Pretty normal stuff then the day before the game. I’d be concerned if it was a high intensity training session.

Captains run mate, really just stretching their legs.

Would be okay for chandler in to manage kozzy's knee

Earned a full run in the seniors

Yeah understand that, just didn’t seem serious enough in my opinion given the position we are in. Lots of players moving really slow and sore.

Binman hoping harmes comes in.

Me too. i reckon we need to really think about using Harmes in the tagging role for the rest of the year. the interesting thing is when he's tagging his output generally is very very similar to when he's not, so why not shut out a good player?

We're carrying a lot of that this year, especially compared to our run last year, it seems.

Yes, I believe it builds ‘resilience’ according to some nonsense that got regurgitated on here.

Baily Laurie debut if Koz doesn't get up?

Describes many of us supporters as well I'm afraid. Post bye season has been a leveller to say the least

That was a big Burgess motto and it worked great last year, but feels like maybe this year the injuries/soreness have been worse and maybe it's not had the same effect.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
