Patrick Cripps FREE to play

The AFL must love an appeal. Keeps them in the news for longer with a story that doesn’t involve Jordan De Goey, Entrecôte, or conveniently disclosed mental health related drug use.

The tribunal will set a very dangerous precedent if they dismiss this penalty

Incidental contact… what BS. That’s not a footy act.

The key issue to play out at the tribunal will be what duty of care Cripps had towards Ah Chee, given he elected to bump and lifted his feet off the ground, as the 2022 AFL guidelines state that if a player elects to bump, they take on the risk – and the consequences!!!  This is what we need to stamp out of the game.

Jumping and bumping to the head. It’s a low act from a star footballer !!

Good luck with that.  I expect the tribunal will overcome that key issue by simply saying he wasn't electing to bump, merely trying to get to the ball.    Hopefully (for us, if not for the game) they'll dodge being honest by compromising on a 1 week ban.

I get the feeling Cripps is about to get the “star of the competition” discount at tribunal

It’ll be a hell of a precedence to set in regard to concussions, but I wouldn’t put it past the MRO

Whilst I’m repeating myself.

If he gets off it will mean we now have game rules that can be interpreted several different ways and penalty rules the same . Leaves the game open to corruption imo. What a shambles. Need to remember it wasn't a marking contest it for those who want to compare it to Rioli.

This will be the rebirth of dirty bumps.

No, the Willie Rioli one was the rebirth of the dirty bumps which is exactly why Cripps Defence are referring to it. It's a good precedent for him to get off imo

You're right, I forgot about that one.

Well this one won't help.

Unfortunately, I think he may get off...

Rioli comparison justifies attacking the ball and incidental contact, albeit heavy contact

I feel it's one of those situations where a player knows they can attack the ball and have the added bonus of spearing an opponent, because that opponent has chosen to follow ball back into oncoming traffic

I don't want Cripps to play, but would be arguing against a Demon suspension in same circumstances

Matt Rowell got up and played on after the willie Rioli incident iirc. The Brisbane doc says that Ah chee is under medical protocols and will miss 1 or 2 games. Much different outcome so I think the ban will be upheld

I don't care either way...gets off or gets a week.

I'd prefer them to be at full strength. And when we smash them there'll be no excuses.

Our best contested game (should we bring it) is better than their's.

Season defining game

Short of skulduggery the case is a potential position in Finals or not with the old crippo

Rowell continued playing, not hurt.

Anyone know who is sitting on the Tribunal tonight?

I heard Loewe was one. Didn’t hear who the others were.

The fact that it’s sitting for this long, doesn’t bode very well. I think he is getting off.

10sec after I posted. Decision upheld 🤘 The CYB zinger at work.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

  • VOTES: Richmond

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
