Hopefully Adem isn’t to shattered, hopefully swings back into his real job with Goody and team at the Dee’s and starts working on the modified mid field plan to get our next Granny.!!!

i wonder if there was any afl influencing in the sudden appearance of bs's availability and his speedy appointment?

Adem skipped a bullet.

Who could have confidence in a football club board that can decide to investigate a potential coach's availability on Monday and have him appointed by Thursday? After putting other candidates through the mill. Unseemly and rude.

Do I smell a Gil interference here?

Sheedy has already come out & said he voted for Hird. He's already having a crack at the new pres.

Adem you are better off not there

I'm taking out futures on pop-corn.

I wish they'd appointed Hird

Yze should now take on a coaching challenge tougher than coaching Essendon: We should make him our forwards coach!

Unlucky for Yze.  I reckon once they push Sheedy out they will be a far more united club and the AFL will do everything they can to get them competitive again.  It's good business if the big clubs are in the finals - if Essendon gets it right then the "big 4" Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon and Richmond will be a good chance of making finals next year.  The commission will be rubbing their hands together as will the broadcasters!

I also think Scott will work for them - he had an ageing list at the Roos and didn't have the facilities or high draft picks that the bombers will have.  2 Preliminary finals wasn't a bad effort for what he had IMO.

They may not be so overjoyed for too long.

David King has highlighted that in the 10 years Scott was at North they did not finish in the top 4 in the H&S season.  They made the finals twice and reached the PF but lost both.

They got the most experienced coach available but doubt anyone can say he has a successful track record.

Wow, I'd forgotten they only made finals twice. Terrible record.

B is for Brad is for Bombers

C is for Chris is for Cats

for those like me who can't remember 🤣

I used to rely on chronology and alphabetical order - Brad was appointed before Chris.

Now it will be reverse chronology. Messes with my mind.

Nar not in a Month of Sundays, Nar Nar, Oh wait a minute!

ANYWAY THE SECRET OF THE OOOOZE is still with us and hopefully can now turn his attention to providing us with a "Stellar" Mid field plan that nets us another flag in 2023!

Dees succession Plan perhaps???

Any I know have all gone Waco-Branch Davidian and are not responding to messages from the outside world.

Wonder if Yze will now move on to another club, perhaps with a bit more responsibility/higher profile? Once you start the "I'm thinking of leaving" ball rolling, can be hard to put the genie back in its bottle.

He is already our most senior coach and runs the box on game days. Not sure how much more senior he can be elsewhere without being a senior coach. I’m sure he will stay around until he gets the senior job somewhere else.

And then there's this guy... (Can't stay on the board now surely?)

Sheedy is a loose unit. The Board doesn't vote for which coach it wants but rather votes to endorse the recommendation provided by the expert panel it appointed to identify the most suitable candidate.  Sheedy didn't vote for Hird, regardless of whether he voted with or against the rest of the Board.

Trac was thrilled Essendon didn’t pick Yze. Sounds like he’s staying put for now.

He really should give being the forwards coach a try.

He was a great forward himself.

I always thought the C in Chris was for something else.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
