no way is that as good as a win, in such a tight season

Freo have a joke of a round 22 and 23 fixture in WC and GWS so we’re probably going to have to win 4/5 to finish ahead of them.

Not if we beat them next week, then 3 wins should be enough.

Anyone notice Daisy often laughs as she speaks even though she doesn’t find the topic funny.

For example when she was talking about  the unfortunate injury to McNamara (Melbourne’s women side) on SEN with Whately yesterday she broke into laughter as she was breaking the down the bad news.

Not sure if it’s on air nerves or just the way she naturally talks.

Yep, have noticed this since day dot! Matthew Lloyd does the same thing. Must just be the way they talk BBP because I’ve never not seen them do it.

I find it super awkward

I reckon the Bombers beat the Pies tomorrow.  Pies scraping over the line against North and Adelaide, Bombers deciding to have a crack once their season is over.  They'd love to dent Collingwood's top 4 chances, and I think they are playing well enough to do it.

Captain & The Major. Unfortunately more often than not we'd be the featured game on 3UZ or 3DB which would mean short updates squeezed in between the horse racing.

Jack Dyer used to drop some clangers. There's an old book called Boot in Mouth full of commentary faux pas and most are his.

He once said in a call that Richmond ruckman Mark Lee's hands reached up like giant testicles and that someone had played for Old Caesarians.

Never mind the Two Ronnies. I find the Two Noahs are the funniest comic duo ever. 😂

Maybe she is a fan of USA VP Kamala Harris, who cackles and laughs when speaking on such frivolous topics as the Afghanistan debacle, the porous southern border, the Ukraine invasion and school shootings.

Agreed - but thankful no “vocal fry”

Draw = best possible outcome for the Dees.

Beat the dogs then Freo and 2 could be enough if the dogs beat Freo round 21. Obviously we’d all prefer to win our next five but if we beat the dogs this week top 4 becomes possible with as little as two wins and top two with as little as 3. Let’s start with a win tonight.

Who are the Two Noahs?  And was one of them married to Joan of Ark?

Messrs Cumberland and Balta.
Last couple of minutes of last night’s match = comedy of errors.

It’s called a nervous laugh. It’s very common.

If we win,  we'll be 6 pts ahead and % (as good as 2 games)

I think its worth 3 games, win tonight they will not catch us whatever happens next week.

Who can forget trying to listen to a game and as we would be attacking it's off to the fourth from Cranbourne.

Listening to ABC coverage interstate had a similar issue

Freo drawing suits us ... serves as a loss for them in all reality.  More so in relation to the teams above them

If we win tomorrow night and then defeat Freo next week they would then be 2 and a half wins behind us with 4 games to play in the season (instead of just 2 wins behind)

So the ball is our court ... we control our own destiny as they've just dropped 2 valuable premiership points

Of course we have to win tomorrow night (first of all)

Freo drawing is of course a marginally better result for us than them winning, but given they were 12% behind us on percentage (and 5.4% compared to Brisbane, 16.4% to Geelong) it's basically the same as a win compared to the sides above them on the ladder, as they were never going to make up the percentage anyway (definitely in the case of Melbourne & Geelong). A Richmond win would have been so so much better from a Melbourne perspective.

From a Freo perspective it's the same as a loss to all the teams below them who all have much worse percentages (and possibly to Sydney who have virtually the same percentage). The results against Melbourne and the Bulldogs are crucial over the next 2 weeks.

It's not just our team that benefits from Freo drawing the game

Freo were 4th heading into tonight's game ... level on premiership points with Collingwood but with a much healthier percentage

But if the Pies win on Sunday against Essendon and the Lions win (as expected) against the Suns then Freo will drop to 5th and out of the double-chance position (at least, temporarily)

Therefore, taking their own destiny out of their own hands (at least in the short term)

Our team benefits extremely marginally (see above) but I agree all the teams below Freo benefit significantly. Freo's destiny is still in their hands. Win the last 4 and they finish above Melbourne (assuming Melbourne losses against Brisbane in the last round) which is exactly the same as if they'd won against Richmond.

Yes, obviously but the point here is that a draw means different things depending on what your percentage is relative to the sides above and below you. As I've said above, Fremantle's draw is essentially the same as a win against the teams above  them and a loss to the teams below them.

"Round the grounds check and it's scores level at the MCG half a second into the first quarter"

Hoping the Swans can have one of their inexplicable performances today.

The Crows have been competitive and will crack in although have struggled to score. Reckon they're an outside chance isf the Swans aren't switched on

On the positive side, from a Melbourne perspective I would prefer Richmond not to make the 8 and the draw last night made it much harder for them. Bulldogs, Saints, Port & Suns all have worse percentages so a draw is virtually a loss comparitively for Richmond. It also helps Carlton & especially Collingwood who also have lower percentages.

Can't see it myself. I reckon Gold Coast have a much bigger chance against Brisbane and Port are a definite chance against Geelong. Gold Coast & Port will be definitely motivated by last night's result (unfortunately so will the Bulldogs!).

  • GAMEDAY: Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. The Dees will be desperate to reignite their stuttering 2025 campaign and claim just their second win of the season. Can the Demons dig deep and find that ANZAC Spirit to snatch back to back wins?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
