dow's kicking is as bad tho

Name some  outside Mids ( other than draftees) who are avslisble in trade at the moment than WSWS.

Realise finishing is very important but the ability to get the ball and run is also super important!

Sure speed and running ability is good, but like we have seen with Hunt all too often over the years if you run fast and far and kick it straight to your opponent who then run the ball back up the other way for a goal…

Give me a player who can get ball make quick decisions and deliver by foot over some one with speed.
A lot of speedy players get through Jnr years on their quickness and become avg players due to their disposal. So many of them lack composure.
Not saying Dow would be good or bad, tbh I’ve not really noticed him but I reckon his wage would be a sticking point.

It's Hunt vs Spargo or Spargo vs Bedford really isn't it!

Not sure what Dow is on but he also has a year on contract to go so a mini "Treloar" deal might be needed Gorg.

Its only probably fantasy talk as this is my post only re Dow not much excitement but we need pace and outside run badly IMO.

All this talk of speed… I would prefer POWER.  Being fast and strong enough over 10 m to break a line and be clear enough to deliver a high quality pass.  Headless chook running looks good, but in a contested style happens once or twice a game.

My old man just messaged me to say apparently Peter Wright has requested to be traded and that we're interested.

Has anyone heard this or has the old fella gone off the deep end?

Just won B and F.

Dow hasn’t shown any ability to ‘win’ his own football at afl level and his disposal is atrocious

Would not go near him personally

Just isn't tough enough for me. Even Langdon will back into a pack if required.

So do we recruit Dusty, DeGoey, or Stringer?

You're right, power in the contest and speed off the mark is preferred over who does the best 30 metre dash. Throw in some quick decsion making and consistent target hitting.

Yep, we both knew that (so did Dunkley), and thought it was huge if true, and anything was possible given Essendon's implosion, but sounds like it was a hoax.

No compo for Cordy! Seems a bit rough. He's no world beater, but even a token late pick would be warranted. He played 14 matches at AFL level this year. Surely that counts for something when Liam Jones chose to sit out because he's a plonker and Blues get pick 40 as compo.

It would be because the Dogs signed Liam Jones as a free agent wouldn't it? Compo cancels out.

I would prefer above average kicking skills.

Teams look quick when they hit targets regularly by foot.

And look slow when they don't as they can be exposed on turnover because players have pushed ahead of the ball on the expectation/hope the disposal chain won't break.

When the disposal chain breaks often multiple players are out of position and have double back and chase tail

We need to be able to move the ball quickly by accurate passing AND by footspeed.

During our 10 zip run i heard several commentators note how quick we were

Are you saying we are a fast team? Or are you just repeating narratives from games where everyone is a world beater?

It's pretty obvious what @binman is saying. That when we move the ball quickly, we are quick. Quick ball movement is much more effective than running the ball quickly...

Sure cheif, anytime a team wins they are world beaters, that in itself is an obvious statement.

The reality is though we are not. Collingwood, Geelong and Sydney exposed us outside of the contest. We are not a fast side even if we look fast when we beat up on sides early in the season.

I need to ask my annual question. Define quick and fast ball movement please.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
