I disagree - he has excellent pace and a big tank. You'll see him in the top 5 or so endurance runners at the club, as well as the fastest top 5. His big let down is his kicking, in spite of him kicking a few ripping goals.

Having a game tank for 4 Quarters is a different thing, being under pressure and executing. He has excellent speed that will suit the big grounds, but at the moment he flashes in and out of games.
His field kicking will sharpen up when his endurance matures

We'll have to agree to disagree. I have no problem with his tank, now or down the track. He flashes in and out of games because he's a small forward, like our others do. He's learning and improving how to impact games. I think the only thing that'll stop him being a serious MFC player is his kicking. I have faith in Chocco to make inroads.

He has played about 4 games and shows a lot of promise.
Why would he ask for a trade?

Because he is in his 4th year and only played 4 games.  He may think he deserves more opportunity.  It happens all the time at premiership sides.

I dont want him to go,  but reality is he might think he is deserving of a best 22 spot.

Always about Bedford. He has raw talent that needs to be trained, would be very disappointed if he didn’t become a serious MFC Player in future.

Last week seemed uncomfortable in the crowded play/ pressure game, needs to get stronger and develop his running attributes to burn of his opponent and get into more dangerous positions like a Charlie Cameron.

He's showing promise but on last weeks form he hardly impacted.

Richmond picked up Lynch as a FA at about this stage in their window… exactly what we need but sadly I can’t see where a top-tier, free agent key position player is coming from

I think there maybe a small exodus from Norf and GWS.

That will make Heppell, Hopper and Hooper, surely a law firm in the making

Not as good as the 72 Swans with Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe…

But that usually happens to players that have plateaued, Bedford is still learning a very important role, so i would be very disappointed if he looked for other opportunities

It usually happens to people who think they aren't getting opportunities. Il be disappointed to.  But if a club comes to him and says we will give $450 for 3 years and your starting Mid.  I recon he would entertain that

Surely if Jackson leaves then we are right into Zuhaar!

Said this in another thread, but I would absolutely go after him without hesitation.

He's a bull of a player and would add a bit of spunk and X factor to our forward half.

Article from afl.com highlights rival interest in Deven Robertson, who was once the target for demon recruiters before being selected with the first pick in the 2nd round of the 2019 draft by the Lions.

"THE STRENGTH of Brisbane's midfield has seen ball-winner Deven Robertson come under rival interest ahead of the off-season.

And he's among a number of Lions who have been in and out of the side this season who have garnered attention from other clubs.

Robertson is contracted for next year at the Lions, but that hasn't stopped clubs enquiring about the West Australian as a trade option after five senior appearances this season."

Edit: sorry for font and spacing, cut and pasting messed it up and hard to adjust on mobile.

We don’t need inside mids, so Bruhn and Taranto are not required for us.

Obviously it’s all about keeping our top talent together during our window, looking to improve our bottom 5-6 if we can

You overlook the forward role Taranto plays snd he would only get better with classy mids and forwards  around him.

Mids that specialise up forward and add goals to your score are worth gold/s !!!!

If Taranto, Hooper and Bruhn leave you might as well close up the gates at GWS

Ward might retire? Still some quality players in the midfield. Not much down back or fwd. and Kelly & Whitfield should be dominating right now and they are far from it. Something smells there

Ward at the end, Greene is a brain fade away from being locked up in a Thai jail, Coniglio is on a $1m to be HFF, and Whitfield should be a milk carton he goes missing so often.

Kelly and Green…

The most underwhelming reaction to being drafted, ever:

Tim Taranto, Jacob Hopper, Bobby Hill and Tanner Bruhn have all been floated as candidates to leave the Giants, but salary cap issues and a willingness from the club to “reset” amid a mini-rebuild should reportedly see all four leave.

Richmond and Collingwood are among the Victorian clubs have shown interest in Taranto, while Adelaide, Richmond and Geelong have been linked to Hopper.

Small forward Hill requested a trade to Essendon last year but is most likely to join the Magpies, while Bruhn is looking at a move back to Victoria, with the Cats thought to be keen on the Geelong Falcons product.

gws-giants-exodus

The price they pay for giving million dollar contracts to a handful of players most of whom are not pulling their weight.

It is a mystery why GWS keep drafting midfielders when they don't have room for them in the side or cap space a few years later.  They try to play them in other positions, the kids don't like it and go home.  Rinse and repeat!  Meanwhile they are deficient in key positions.

Why would we go after an inside mid when Brayshaw can't get a game there.

Bruhn will help our sal cap but we have a bunch of players competing for that spot and a few more yet to debut.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
