Ins. Gawn (if fit) Jackson (if fit)

outs  (if Gawn and Jacko are fit) Mitch Brown, Weid

? Pickett - surely he doesn’t get suspended/ fined for that. If he does then Fogarty gets 3weeks  (Chandler the obvious option)

? Hibberd fitness on a short break. - gets Stengle - but Hunt/Rivers the option

? Bedford- really want him in for pace and dangerous around goal.  But missed his chance again and was MIA for large periods of time

They might also drop 1 small (Kozzie suspension?) and play M Brown or Weid in the TMac role?

I hope not,  Bedford's pace is important for our forward line functioning.  People need to see him (1 goal from 8 disposals) in the same light as Kozzie (1 goal from 7 disposals) and Spargs (1 behind from 12 disposals), it's the pressure that he brings that's important and the repeat opportunities at goal that creates for our other forwards/mids.  We aren't going to get that with Weid or Brown.

The fact that we’re coming off a five day break should be a factor in team selection.

Not sure it will be tbh. I can't remember a time since Burgess came across up until now where we've 'rested' players. Plus there will be the automatic couple of changes for Max and (hopefully) Jackson, so not sure old Simon 'Steady Hand' Goodwin will want to do much on top of that unless forced through injury.

Goodwin does not rest players, in fact they play with minor injuries.

I am tipping we will go with an extra tall against the Cats on the skinny ground. I think Bedford will go out for Gawn.

Jackson will come back if fit for one of the Browns or Weideman.

Any other changes will be due to the short break.

Danger just back from a calf won’t be liking the 5 day break. Plus the other oldies down there. Should give us an advantage

the shortened break is irrelevant, more or less, as casey's break is about two hours of game time and one 75 minute flight shorter than the break for mfc players

and i'd rather keep a gelling team together than have change for change's sake

It’s not irrelevant. While all our players had the same break, it will be case by case and some will pull up badly. Hibberd, for example, might be rested for Hunt or Rivers. Petracca also looked pretty sore at the end last night.

While I get the need for forward line pressure in some cases I'd like to see our players with the Ball being chased by their opponents than vice versa

Weid out, he doesn't hit the scoreboard much

Ben Brown looked sore, wouldn't surprise me if he missed this week

Anyone got the replay or a time stamp for this?

BEN BROWN OK STAYS MITCH BROWN KICKED 2 AND WAS MUCH BETTER THAN WEEDS WHO LACKED PRESENCE..AGAIN

The role Goodie has for BBB is to compete for the the long ball, usually against an outnumber, with the purpose being to bring it to ground. The fact he is 200 cm helps him do this along with the method of flying up with only one arm extended.

Its a bit of a waste of talent, but so wld a plan to use our average kicking skills to hit him up on a lead exposing us on the rebound.

Having our best contested mark in Gawn play in the 50 is pretty appealing.

Gawn and Chandler in for Weideman and Pickett

Change for the sake of change is definitely not what we are going to see from Goody, ever.

I would really love to see Gawn forward more, I remember Paul Salmon in the forward line for Essendon, he was devastating (and also a decent bloke, a bit like the Maddens and Danihers), and this is what I think Gawn could do as a proper ruck fwd.  And before it is argued that we are 'robbing Peter to pay Paul', our Midfield just showed what it can do with reduced ruck presence. Also we didn't need Gawn down the line to save us, as our defence was perfection.

We have come through more adversity this year with injuries. and it is giving us a look at alternate strategies, I see growth in the team this year. Personally I think Scott will be sweating bullets about the game with us, that soft Kangas match is not what they needed before us. They have Kade out now as well as Stewart, I think Gawn forward would unsettle the cats nicely without us missing too much. Just some random ideas.

Pickett won’t be dropped. He was better than Bedford anyway.

So are the cats but their game was little more than a training run.

39 fantasy points and 7 disposals. Not exactly a great game. He has been average for weeks. Give Chandler a chance after 5 goals for Casey.

Stats don’t give the story with Kozzi. His pressure is immense and is zero chance of being dropped. He is critical to our team defence and game plan

I know DD but an old guy can dream.

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
