Genuine pisstake if Melksham comes straight into the senior side.

Surely he got the "thanks for your service now" tap after his 200 games. VFL and that's it.

Weid more ruck than forward I hope.

Melkshem fit to play but I'd be surprised if he's selected in the seniors.

Yeah this sounds like it's been ripped from goody's presser earlier today where he said that melksham had overcome the hand infection.

Well, who else Dazz??

Who’s place would Jake take?

Probably 6 other players that are in better form.

I’m craving a different side this week. I don’t mean in’s and out but mainly a different look. I’d love Trac more up forward and Gus in the middle. Something different, he’ll be hungry in there. Rotate him and Trac or Trac and Viney. Change it up through out the game. Doesn’t always have to be the same. We literally kick out towards the left side of the ground from a kick in. Mix it up. We are becoming if not have become so damn predictable. We’ve lost our run from the backline. Our goals last year where mainly from the run and carry from the backline. This year we mark it on our defensive 50 and stop… the Oppo have time to man up then we lose that privilege of being in control and it now becomes a 50/50 contest

Richmond of late will chip around their defensive half then boom they’re off.

That's how i'm seeing things as well.

Add to that...

Too many other issues to list

Weed for Gawn

May for Turner

Van Rooyen for Mitch Brown

Bedford for Harmes or Sparrow

So Stu … in you first scenario Mitch Brown survives? Seriously?

I agree that against the Pies he was invisible. He performed better against the Swans (4 marks and a goal assist) and was better than the other Brown. But the main reason I think he'll be included (as we now have confirmation that Daw is injured) is that the FD don't like to change the structure (2 talls, Fritsch, and 3 small pressure forwards). They could include JVR and I'd personally be excited to see that, but I just doubt they'll do that at this stage of the year.

They have often spoke about trying to be calm across the entire FD and we haven't seen reactive team changes for a long time. Goodwin constantly talks about belief in the 'system' - for this reason I can't see him changing the forward structure and/or bringing in a first year player with less than 10 VFL games under his belt.

Apologies to Werridee in advance!...

Hibberd   May   Petty

Salem   Lever   Rivers

If Melksham is selected ahead of Bedford I'd have serious questions.

For me this week it’s

out: Turner Hibberd Gawn M.Brown

Bowey     Petty    Salem

Langdon Viney  Jordan

I am now in tears weed for Gawn!  Don’t be surprised if it is milkshake for M Brown.

Interesting there seems to be more activity on other threads than this one. Have we accepted that we have run out of reserves and our fate? Interesting the bookies still have us as favourites. I have little idea why.

I reckon the previous 15 pages of this thread has exhausted all possible ( and many unlikely) permutations od.

For mine, the certainties are May and Weid in for Turner and Gawn.

I will  now wait with keen interest, to see what the selectors come up with.

Does anyone know if Thursday night teams get announced this afternoon or tomorrow?

They’ll be announced around 6:30 tomorrow (Wednesday) might.

That tweet is terrible news for people who like punctuation. Great news for us getting some unnecessary free kicks on Thursday.

You haven't made my day with those selections Bbo however I guess there is no one else. The next few weeks will seal the position of the weed one way or the other and we will see if Jackson is more that a good number two

I actually have a sneaking suspicion that Weid will play his best game for us if he comes in.

He seems to be a confidence player and to a certain extent he gets a free hit in the ruck as the expectations aren't high on him in the way it is when he's forward.

He impacts a few contests early and then takes a mark and goals when he goes forward and we'll see a different player.🤞

Well if he plays fwd that is not likely to happen but if he plays ruck/fwd like he often does for Casey he may be serviceable.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
