Max was holding his knee as Cox took that mark. He then hobbled to the bench and that little [censored] Ginnivan had a go at him on his way past. Max gave him an absolute spray

Slow movement from defense is killing our ability to score, need to be more daring I reckon and accept that we will turn some over but at least we have clearer path to goal

No thanks.   They kill us on turnovers through the middle, should be in front if they kicked straight

I hope Viney puts that little gutter rat on his [censored].

covering transition from d50 was shaky that quarter, really need to plug the corridor.

Harmes streaming into the 50 runs to 40m and doesn’t make the distance or doesn’t have a shot. I’m unsure which it was but I was sick to death of this from last week as well

Says Max is off injured online?

what happened there?

Cox up to his knee and boot dirty tactics.Did it to someone last week or the week before.Deliberately puts full impact into his opponents back with both knees or feet. You will need it to be shown from a different angle.

Midfield getting pantsed again today. Losing clearances and contested ball, giving them free reign to take it quickly through the corridor. Oliver a lone hand.

Spargo had a great second quarter. Huge pressure and clean kicks going inside 50.

Jackson is a shadow of himself at present and is getting outbodied too easily. How any league footballer can miss goals from 10 meters out with little angle is beyond me.

We’re not converting opportunity when we had the momentum. Will be a tough fight from here to get up.

Hibberd has been good

This bloke is such a big game white line player.  Anyone who says Hibb is done & dusted well think again.  Our best down back so far by the length of the Flemington straight

Just a matter of time before their midfield dominance, attack from the breakdown and run through the midfield overwhelms us, straight kicking or not. Unless we [censored] this and really make them pay from the contest and turnover, they’ll start piling on goals. No idea where our team’s gone, but they’re a dwindling shadow of last year, and it’s utterly horrible to watch.

lost that quarter, so often we lose the 2nd quarter, hopefully we will have one of our fantastic 3rd quarters and put them to the sword.

Dominate first 20 minutes of quarter don't convert, momentum swings rinse repeat.

Been the case three weeks in a row. Exactly same vibe as last three weeks. We don't win from here unless we pull a rabbit out of the hat. Pies are very well coached. No way they have better cattle than us but if teams defend us in the air it's all over.

Owned the first 20 minutes plus let them back in late. Half-time reset it won't be easy, we can prevail. Do it Demons. Battle is Midway.

MFCSS? get some resolve we have untapped reserves

Turner going well on debut, especially early.

Bowey is well out of form unfortunately. Hunt or Rivers would be more effective on form.

No fluency or rhythm. Lead in legs. Hopefully pies poor goal kicking continues because they have more energy and zip.

little angle

Is that a joke?

We don't look like we want it like we did last year. Lacking the will to work and compete at the level required. Shocking withdrawal from the contest at the end then against Mihochek. This feels like a loss coming and we are heading for scrapping for a top 4 finish after this.

Similar feel to last 2 games.
Far to stagnant going forward.
And kick straight when we've got control.

Atmosphere is unreal. The stupid comments are cracking me up. Chanting USA after Cox misses is the best thing ever

How many points do we need to up by at three-quarter time to be a chance of winning?

No pressure what so ever then. Just allowed them to waltz it down to there forward line

Why after any team who gets the ball in their defensive 50 are we allowing them to waltz down the ground and let them kick it into their forwards 50 with no pressure. Been happening for too long.

Time to put this Ginnivin kid on his [censored]. Little [censored] mouthing off to Gawn. Who the hell do you think you are? Have you won a flag or been an AA 5 times? No. So shut the [censored] up!

I think it is best not to pay attention to him and just land some nice hard tackles on him at every chance.

And can our forwards lead once on a while. Not enough movement

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
