Sportsbet odds   Demons $1.22 Swans $4.15.

Very juicy odds on Swans. They are ridiculous odds .... match is way tighter than that.

Pumped for this game.

Viney to set the tone early with some crunching tackles

Swans will tag Langdon and Clarry will dominate with 40

Demons by 18pts

Rain predicted.  Whose game holds up better in the wet?

Think we will bounce back.  Swans will try Freo method, then revert to their usual style, then simply not keep up.  28 points.

Crazy odds. I'm tempted to back the Swans

Our form hasn't been great. The Swans record at the G is very good

It'll be a tough tight arm-wrestle in the wet

I'm back our boys in because they've been brilliant when we've needed a response

Dees by 7 but jeez could go either way

Ours.

Because in the ladt couple of seasons the swans have moved away from a contest and territory game plan, to a move it quickly by hands and running from the back half plan.

Which is a style similar to the dogs. And similarly at risk of breaking down under pressure - or in wet slippery conditions.

Plus they simply don't have enough strong, seasoned bulls in their midfield.

I suspect they will bring at least one, probably two extras to stoppages and look to win tge clearance battle. We won't match them so lets hope tracc is fit and firing.

Look for maxy to take more ruck tonight

Don’t wanna go all Mike Larkin on you but it’s 0-2mm predicted and mostly outer east so we’ll hopefully be right

Swans have as much chance of winning as smith has of getting less than 4 weeks for headbutting

Betting on the Swans?? Their form is 3-3. Lost to the Suns at home and went very close to losing to North. They are not the same team as last year and Buddy is out. We will smash them on the inside. With Kennedy done, Parker has to do most of the heavy lifting at the coalface

Would like to see us back to our brutal best tonight eg: first half against St Kilda. No more toying with these teams it’s statement time.

Not sure on this.

Pretty even match up for team v opponent averages in clearances and centre clearances. We've got them covered for contested possessions, but that's more a reflection of our lack of spread lately IMO.

They have us covered comfortably for tackles, and that would be a concern if it's wet.

Kennedy out doesn't make a massive difference as he's not highly ranked for them in those stats this year.

Their forward efficiency is also a fair bit better than ours so not having May and Buddy will be an interesting watch I reckon.

Kennedy is ranked 8th at the Swans for average clearances.

9th for centre clearances.

11th for contested possessions.

14th for tackles.

Swans midfield is far more than Kennedy and Parker.

Kennedy and Buddy out - huge loss for the Swans.

Swans are brilliantly coached so Lever will not be free to intercept all day, and the stoppages will probably be 50/50.

We are close to our best 22, but Salem will be very rusty.

Having Gawn, Oliver, Viney, Petracca, Langdon and Brayshaw across the middle gives us grunt and class that the Swans can't match.

Close most of the day, real dog fight. Dees will have a 10 minute patch where they kick 5 straight, and we win by 20 points.

After the ‘downer’ against Freo, there have been a few very early signs of the re-emergence of MFCSS amongst some Demonland colleagues.  It’s a horrible ailment, and extremely contagious, but fortunately, a win against the Swans will put that to rest. Dees in a hard-fought 19 point win, to curtail an epidemic for at least another week.

With the ‘ins’ we have this week and the improved health of players from last weeks game I simply can’t see us losing by less than 1 point.

Rumour that TMac won't play .. MBrown in.

Queries on fitness of Salem and Langdon ....

Lever out of form.

Will be a tough match.

Langdon is literally the fittest guy in the AFL. You think two weeks off will mean he has lost his ability to run 15km? I doubt it.

I have no idea what will happen. But I like our ins if they all play.

Just hope we do win & win well. Straight kicking as usual is the key & would love to see Ben brown kick a few

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
