I like it.  No injuries and nobody is bashing the door down!

Everyone has obviously pulled up ok. Hope Rivers is not hobbling in.

You only have to look at the emergencies to see that there is no concern with having to cover that type of player. I guess Weid can come in and TMac can go back as a defender to cover Riv.

Weid is there mainly for a ruck or key forward or back (TMac back/Weed forward) going down.

Bedford will likely be the sub again.

Dunstan covers the mids too.

Melk?

No change.

No surprise.

Why?

Because, Goody rarely makes changes (except injury related ones) to a team coming off a win.

So, if we win this week and lets say Tmac or Spargo have quiet games statistically, can repeat offenders please consider resisting  the urge to suggest they will be dropped.

Surely Mitch Brown replaces Weideman in list of emergencies?? Surely great form needs to be rewarded??

While it takes a lot for Goodwin & co to change a winning team, I'm a little surprised there are no changes.

Petracca, Brayshaw, Rivers and Spargo took some big hits last week.  Rivers was heavily bandaged last week and Petracca was at training on Monday.

We are coming off a 6 day break from an interstate trip and we play Port next week with an interstate trip on a 6 day break.  (Before anyone complains just be aware that they bookended with 10 and 9 day breaks).

I read in another thread that we had a light training week.  So, wouldn't be surprised if we closely manage playing time especially for those above to preserve them for next week.

Or could we make a late change?

One thing is for sure if we get a good lead we will shut down the game pretty quickly and defend.  We only need the 4 pts and keep injuries to a minimum

Fair point picket but it seems that Brown has been designated as injury protection only.

Likely played his last game - barring injury.

I understand Brown hasn't been given many games since he's been with us but he's pretty much contributed in the ones he's played.

Agree loges his effort has been terrific.

I am simply noting, that given the respective efforts of Weid and Brown in the Casey game, and now ....... Weid given the gig as emergency...... seems to send a message

I love this from Goodwin and the selection panel. Following the Dees for such a long time, it is really refreshing to see stability, and no big reactions to 1 or 2 bad games by individuals.

A questionable one I would have thought!

No surprises there. Hope some of the quiet ones from last week can play better. Fritta and Brown in particular.

No surprises which is a good thing.

But, Jake Melksham getting named emergency is genuinely taking the [censored] right?

His VFL performance last week was woeful. Absolutely cooked.

I think it was @binman on the podcast who said he was impressed by Melksham in the VFL last week.

Wasn’t Melksham off a HB flank? We are getting into the depth charts in defence. A Covid hit to that line could see the return of Matthew Collins via a time machine from 1998.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti
