Not convinced the Blues can defend, ceiling of 6th spot I reckon

They conceded 25 scoring shots which isn’t great.

Carlton on top of the ladder even if it is for now and as I said earlier Essendon on the bottom. Carlton have the hawks next week. Cripps is great to watch though.

Now onto tomorrow night and see if Buddy can get his 1000th

Carlton have joined us, Brisbane, Sydney, Port, Geelong and maybe Dogs as a genuine premiership contender.

Not sure what more they could have done so far this year and have another vital midfield cog in Cerra to come back in.

I see the Blues as being similar to us in 2018. Exciting, up and coming, win and final or two but not ready for the big dance. They look good though. Blues fans will be very up and about.

As for the dogs, big chance they’re 0-3 by the end of next week.

They look good but a bit early to go with genuine...

I will wait for around 10 rounds in when the rigours of the season kicks in and teams put a bit of work into them but as they say you can can only play whats in front of you.

looks like quite a small crowd

Yeah especially compared to last Thursday.   Its the dog supporters again I would reckon. Not turning out for games for some reason.

A win is a win but I can see a few areas of the blues game that could be exposed pretty easily by an in form team.

Richmond looked completely cooked last week. They’ve lost their greatest asset (like last year) which is pressure. It’s an exhausting way to play footy and they did it for 3 years, but they have ageing players and their core looks like it’s on a downward trajectory.

The dogs have completely lost their intensity in all parts of the ground. They’re second guessing their decisions which is a confidence thing. Carlton out played them in their own game of demanding the ball more in the middle. Cripps is a super star.

They’ve beaten two teams that are devoid of playing dangerous footy at the moment.

The blues backline is punching well above their weight. The dogs entries weren’t great and they only had Norton as a target. The doggies also missed about 4 very get table shots. Both Richmond and the dogs forward lines and forward line entries looked very predictable.

Carltons forward line conversely, was getting a lot of benefit from their mids out of centre bounces as they moved quickly and made the most of the 666 rule.

If Carltons mid field is able to dominate, the Blues will win a lot of games. If teams are able to physically dominate the players around Cripps and make them earn every clearance, Carlton will struggle. I don’t see Carltons forwards applying enough pressure to keep the ball in their fifty and I am not seeing Carltons backline able to stabilise in the face of a team peppering their defensive fifty.

Nullify their mid field and there aren’t other areas of their team that I’ve seen that will be able to compensate.

Blues have Hawks & Suns in the next 2 weeks.

Will be 4-0 going into Port at the G.

Wouldn't bank the Suns win just yet.

Blues look really good at times… sad too see but wow the first half was some high class footy. Cripps is a weapon again, he took Bont to school tonight.

The Dogs hung around, the backline is so ave it amazes me how they do it.

I still fail to see the hatred for Weightman, he worked really hard all night, zero “playing for frees”, bizarre.

Up until their 3rd qtr comeback I'm thinking we broke them last year.   Someone shared a state of teams smashed in gf's failing the next year and the dogs seem to be following that path.

But if they had kicked half of those points in the last qtr they would have won.  Bad kicking is bad footy.

The blues have a strong mid (with one young talent to return) and a great fwd (singular), the rest can be taken apart by a top side. Tigers/dogs are not that at the moment.

Dunkley at end sums up Dogs for me. Flops with contact on mark trying to milk a fifty rather than moving ball into open forward line. Fortunately the acting failed he had to kick and choked again

Honestly the most overrated player in the comp.

Gets a lot of the ball but he is horrible by foot. So called leader who missed two gettable shots at goal and the flop was typical doggies.

The Dogs have a crap, non existent game plan and were exceedingly fortunate to make the Grand Final last year. I would not be surprised if they missed out on the 8 this year.

When Carlton (or any other team) can consistently keep the opp to 60-70 points, which is the goal of our defence, then I will rate the team's defensive capability.  Until they develop an 'all team defence' then I doubt their finals credentials.  They might make the 8 and beat other low defence capable teams but will struggle vs a Sydney, Melbourne and probably Geelong.

They need much more pressure from their fwds and mids to protect their d50 to keep the ops score down.

It's quite amazing how many simple marks bulldogs defenders drop.

Caleb Daniels is sooo overated! 25 disposals 18 of them UNCONTESTED!! Give me Jake Bowey anyday of the week.
