How good was that!!!! At risk of being captain obvious, good lord this flag is the gift that keeps on giving

Some really interesting insights.

Of course the club only releases what they want to release but it surprised me how nurturing, encouraging and calm Goodwin was. There was an unshakeable belief that even when we were down we would 'get it going''. That takes some courage as it must be so tempting do something dramatic to get a spike in performance.

I reckon there would have been plenty of censored material left on the cutting room floor😉

Let's face it.
Not too many dog supporters would be watchin' it.
Made for Melbourne supporters consumption I'd suggest.

This was disappointing, I don't need to rub it in by seeing Bevo have a miserable one but it would have been interesting to hear his comments as the game slipped away. They must have had some say over what went in the final product (or he ripped the microphone out), because I can't believe he didn't say anything interesting during the Mad Minute.

It would have just been a long minute of bleeping

I’m pretty sure he missed the mad minute.  After Tracs goal he started making his way down to the ground for the 3/4 time huddle.  He never would have imagined we would get another let alone 2.

Starwars meh, Godfather hmpfh, Anything by Kubrick yawn, Tarantino what again, Coppola seen it all, Dr Strangelove was ok, The Mission powerful, BUT nothing compares to watching the GF on repeat or the multitudes of glorious outtakes. It will get to the stage where l know,  off by heart, the colour of each player's football boots worn on the day, before I am bored of this vision.

Such an uplifting listen. It's always great to get this sort of insight, especially from someone like Goody coaching from the ground.

Observations:

- I really liked Goody's "great to be alive" message at the start of Q3. Human. Brings the boys back down to the earth, where they had to inflict the damage - which they did. It's simple, but for me it really taps into the basics. Harnessing universal energy etc.

- How calm was Goody throughout all of that?!? Especially during Q3. I'd have lost my shirt by then. Probably why I'm not coach.

- I was reminded of how close we were to a 4th consecutive goal in that last stretch. Bont only JUST got enough of Trac, otherwise that was another goal for sure.

I was already pumped for tonight, now even more so (hard to believe).

I suspect WB supporters would want the same.

I feel for them listening to part 3 and 4 and all they got was Goodwin and Dees except the 10 seconds when Beveridge threw in the towel.

They could be forgiven for wondering if their coach went missing in more ways than one.

Yeah, that was amazing. As we were getting beaten. "Smile boys, energy up!"

Coaching from the sidelines and that postive re-enforceme from Goody was amazing.

That first quarter smother by Kozzie was incredible.

Viney at those centre bounces at the end of the third was incredible.

Last quarter footage had me tearing up. Just beautiful watching the team on the sidelines once they knew they had it in the bag.

Can't wait to be at the G tonight

I coached from the boundary too and I found it really good at keeping your emotions in check and staying positive because you were a minute away from seeing your best players come off and could have a chat and look them in the eye. Which is the most important thing a coach can do while the game is live; impress upon your best players as the come for a rest. Yelling down the phone is just the worst.

Goodwin was just so impressive.  Incredible tranquility in the eye of the storm. Extraordinary.

He certainly was impressive Ernie. And I think a lot of the credit for allowing Goodie to be his best has to go initially to Gary Pert and subsequently to Richo for the way they project managed the football department  in setting up the structures, together with the right personnel for the right spots, which freed Goodie to do what he does best. I don't think Pert and Richo have received, from outside of the Club, the due credit that they deserve.

Unbelievable how Beveridge coaches...."tell them to give me more uncontested marks"   How in the hell does he expect players to do that? Ask their opponents nicely to keep away? His whole mantra came across as ra, ra rather than tactical

But what really stood out for me was Goody's calmness and vision, knowing that the momentum would swing at some point

.  After Fritta's first goal in the 3rd he says something along the lines of " here we go fellas".  Or to TMac...."your chance will come".....Or "tell the forwards to give density in defence" when we needed to deny them.  And the plan between him and Burgess to give Gawn just a short stint back in the ruck, before releasing Jackson for those final minutes in the 3rd.

Perhaps the tactical discussions weren't shown? Can't imagine any coach wanting to give away much in that area. I mean, each video covers about a quarter of the time covered, and within that the coaches get a few snippets.

Pretty surprised with some on here getting a bit ahead of themselves with putting down Beveridge. Has as many flags as Goody.

1 poster.
And you jump in with the thought policing as usual.

I’ve heard the full audio from the Dogs box - most of it is just Bevo ranting about Tom Morris and saying what a bad journo he is.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
