Meh … how many times have we won practice matches in February/March and gotten excited about the year ahead? I’ll wait for the real thing to start before passing any judgment on where we’re headed in 2022.

We seem to like bending teams over barrels these days.

Great to watch.

May the strangle hold over Norf continue. 🙏

Was there any noticeable difference in the umpiring of the holding the ball rule? Alternatively, were players trying to dispose of the ball more quickly because of the supposed "tightening up" of that rule?

Didn't see any difference, other than a few ridiculous holding the balls paid.

Just put a pineapple on BB for the Coleman. Paying $21!

That will come down.

I reckon after today it will be in around $10-12 range.

On the claim that Weid might have been played in the ruck in case that Luke Jackson leaves.

No because he needs to get a go away from just being a forward   in one position. And he is quite decent around the ground with good skills marking and handball ing. No one not even BBB or Tmac  can make  a difference to Dogga in the ruck.
Please no reason to  be so half glass empty that is not what is being suggested that Dogga is leaving this season or the next 2 at least.

How has Tom Sparrow done?

It looked like he had hit the gym regularly in the off season.

He was great. Trimmed down noticeably but still looks wide and strong. Kicked it beautifully and will get more midfield minutes based on today's game

I was confused about the pineapple reference there for a minute.😁

I know a 20s a lobster.

Is a100 a watermelon ?

Worth a punt for sure.

On Brown, I saw a highlight video of Chandler's goal from the middle of the field. Was that Brown sprinting into the goalsquare chasing after it?

If so...seems a far bit faster/more agile than last year?

Yea it was. He looked quick and gave the thumbs up when it went through.

A few iffy ones, but lots of high tackles paid that looked very dubious and "drawn".  Unfortunately Kayo wasn't doing replays. I would have liked some more looks at many of them.

BoG for me was Clarry.  Very powerful display.

Most pleasing was Joel Smith.  Not sure if he was beaten once and disposed of the ball very well.  Really starting to use his supreme athletic gifts well.  Even with Petty out, picking our defenders for round 1 will be a nightmare.

Can you elaborate on Joel Smith.?  Iv'e always had my doubts and saw a 30 sec clip of the game where he charged through won the ball then butched it.

Not representative of his game?  Hitting targets?

Chandler was opportunistic , at best.

Kicked 2 goals but was rarely sighted otherwise, though the same could be said for our other small forwards who tended to see more goals sailing over their heads from long distances

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
