At least the guys in the twos can’t complain that there’s not enough opportunities this season.

Its up to them to stand up if they really want it.

It is 100% his back. He was holding it constantly. Channel 7 commentary is trash.

We don’t deserve him. He is a warrior and I’m fuming that Cox, genuinely one of the worst footballers going around, gets to look like some sort of hero today playing on nobody after injuring Gawn. I hope he drops those stupid sunglasses in the toilet!
We are in genuine trouble if Gawn is going to be out for a while or down on form due to the injury.

You're still Jaded

Because the current one is working so well

It's a bugger about Gawny, but it gives him a chance to get on top of all his other niggles.

I'm excited by the opportunity it provides others to step up. It also gives our midfield mix a different look. A less predictable look.

When Max went down in 2017, we became less predictable and were better for it.

Where losing him will hurt is around the ground in the air. Can a Weideman step up?

I know this isn't the 70s (or 60s, or 80s !), and toughness is straight-lining the ball. But our stars have been the targets of off-the-ball cheap shots for much of the year. We are being belted up, and have been for weeks. Over time, it adds up.

Not sure what the answer is, but the Lions will be a test. Who will them on if they get into Jacko off the ball (as has happened to Max for years)?

You're kidding right? It won us a flag and had us 10 zip 3 weeks ago.

Nothing wrong with the system. It's the ability to execute that has gone missing, clearly due to a heavy loading block since Round 8.

It was half tongue in cheek

Dees out - Gawn Tmcd - of best 22 / premiership team

Lions - full list to chose from.

I still reckon we can beat them anywhere anytime.

Surely Zorko wont get up

He could even hobble

100% correct

Weid has been gifted one last opportunity to make it. I hope it’s the making of him. He needs to be told to play with some visible intensity. Don’t let players out mark you. Hurt them if they do. Play like someone playing for their career, because you are.

This is the exact reason we have Daw on the list. Not a Half forward,

Current one isn’t achieving much.

In 2021 we had an excellent run with injuries and was one of the reasons we won the flag. This year is turning into a shocker, now looking doubtful we will have any impact.

1965 is looking more likely all over again.

Well [censored] ain’t working right now is it Einstein? You would prefer just to plod along doing the same

Max is down. We have part time Ruckmen

we need to devise a different way to play QUICKLY

Backs to the Wall right now

Was bound to happen at some point.

Jackson and Weed as a one-two combo should frighten most teams. Weiderman is a veteran of the club now whether we like to accept it and needs to step up. It took Max until his 6th season to step up. This is Sam's 7th. No better opportunity for the kid to step up.

That is really laying the matter of 'form' to the test; perhaps, Jackson can assist up there; perhaps not. Worth a try but it will affect our rucking strengths enormously now that Gawny seems to be waylaid for a few weeks with his ankle issue.  Daw and Joel Smith would be my preference but I also reckon that is my opinion only, not that of one other person. TMac will be resuming soon so perhaps, forwards leading for the ball is not a figment of the imagination. BBB has a real load to consider, adopt and deliver in all matches to come.

I can live with a 1965 style result this year. But not the subsequent 55 years.

Exactly, just get a bit physical Sam. We're going to have a few guys being asked to do things outside of their regular job description. I know crashing a pack isn't necessarily in his wheelhouse but he might need to start doing things like this, get out of the comfort zone and make defenders know you're there.

So another back goes down. Poor Turner cops a facial fracture & Elliot gets away uninjured. Typical.

Has someone put another curse on us?

We will win at least 5 of the last 9 and make top 4.  The finals will be wide open from there.

In the top 4 will most likely be Freo, Lions and Cats.  Happy to play any of them anywhere.  In fact happy to play any team, anywhere.

Still think Dees and Lions in the GF!

Bloody hell  it just gets worse

Wow we have 2 injured players on our list. Most teams have more.

no excuses let’s get our game back together

With the bye coming up best case scenario is two games missed by Max which will give him time to get over his other ailments where ordinarily he would have played through them. Weid back in will allow for sharing of the ruck duties with Dogga.

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
