Big test. We didn’t turn up last year in the prelim. Very disappointing. We have to put in a performance and make the Crows earn it today.

It’ll be tough, they have a strong home record, but if we can match them physically and kick straight we’re a good chance

The heart says Dees by 5 points, the head says Crows

I think we match up quite well against their strengths and we have plenty of girls in form ……… BUT we will have to adapt to the crazy skinny dimensions of the ground and kick straight, which is a regular bugbear.  Fingers crossed we can do it.

This should be a good game. I am looking forward to the battle of the midfield as both are strong here. Pearce in the ruck could be the difference.

Gotta play 4 qtrs.

chance to put a gap between us and the behind.   Crows kill dus with pressure last year, saints did the same last week till we broke out.  Been a trend this year with the top sides, suddenly breaking out in the last qtr to run away with it.   The other teams can't seem to sustain he pressure for 4 qtrs.

birch should have knocked that away for a rushed behind, not smart

adelaide red hot. we need to settle

Getting killed at ground level

We gotta get our tackling game going….

Crows bringing the heat and out-muscling us. They appear physically bigger and stronger.

Lucky we're not further behind. Badly need to wrest momentum back here somehow, stick some tackles, or it will be a long day

Playing too loose and Crows don't fumble.

Goldie having a crack as usual. She needs some help

Anyone willing to join me on the Paxy is overcooked train?

Sarah Allan got an opponent?

Getting smashed in contested ball. We're miles behind the Crows, and we're almost at full strength.

Looks like we spent all summer practicing nice uncontested footy and forgot how to win and use the ball under pressure.

We haven’t been able to string together anything remotely decent.

The lack of coordination between the player giving and receiving a handball is particularly poor. There’s no point being a hard running fit side if you can’t give a handball to a runner who then gets in to space.

We started to make some terrible decision making skills along with poor use of the footy from about 1/2 way through the second quarter. Adelaide have been on to us from the start and with a home ground advantage that will be enough. Too many of our good players are playing pooorly so lets hope they can lift in the second half. Paxman, Gay and Zanker for a start.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
