Was hoping for 65,000+ members.

But nevertheless 62,813 (so far) is an amazing effort for the Melbourne Football Club. Congratulations to all those loyal Melbourne Demons supporters have have signed up!

As I mentioned previously, I remember the days when we were happy to get at least 20,000 members.

How times have changed and it just goes to show that you not only need to win Premierships but you must have sustained success over many decades to compete with the likes of Collingwood, Richmond, Essendon, Carlton and Hawthorn.

I am hopeful that we are on the right track to eventually have over 80,000+ members in the future. But it will take time and more Premierships!

You might have to fork out for an extra 2187 memberships to get us over the line WCW 🤣

Cake. I can do that with just my walking around money. 😎
Except I can’t really since I’m determined to get to Perth for round 20 as well as Brisbane for round 23. I’ll sell a kidney if need be.

They should sell 2 game Memberships for the Filth and Carlscum games

They have.  For $13

If the club insist on flogging Mickey Mouse memberships they should try selling them by the quarter in the last two home games. That should get them to 65K.

That deal was only for 13 hours

@WalkingCivilWar you only need to scrounge up $28,431 if they will give you the $13 membership. Can’t you get that out of the cookie jar? 😝

Pfft, of course I can. I’m a Melbourne supporter, remember?! And just for sh*itz & giggles, let’s round it up to $30, 000. That few extra memberships might be needed in case next week’s banner thanks our 65,000+ members.

And membership numbers do not close off until the end of this month.

More growth to go!

Phew!!!

Tonight’s banner raising could’ve been awkies.

Big effort by G Pert and his crew.when you remember where we came from in terms of membership and merchandising.

Well done to all our members - make sure you renew each and every year and we stay financially strong

Those $13 memberships…

If only Clayton wore a higher number, amirite?

These numbers are quickly becoming irrelevant.

The better number to track might be revenue from memberships, with the floor of what is needed to run the club and thrive.

All the clubs have got these kind of deals going.

@WalkingCivilWardo we need to pass the hat tonight to try and top up your cookie jar?

No need to, Flash. We’ve hit 65,000!

I mean, pass the hat if you really insist. The DA could do with a *Pandora gift set. A cheer squad can never have too many of those, amirite?!

*the white gold one. Not with the bracelet on its  own but with all the charms included. And the diamond earrings (large and dangly) and the solid gold pendant, again white gold. And the diamond cuff links for S & Gs
You might wanna bring out the 10 gallon stetson for this whip-around.

Forgot to add the diamond cuff links for S & Gs

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
