I'm predicting ...

Jackson will end up at Freo for their 2022 and 2023 1sts and some net-zero-value garnishing.

We'll then trade one of our 2 2023 1sts to Collingwood for Brodie Grundy.

Yep can see that happening too

swap LJ for Grundy and end up with something around pick 10. Doesn’t sound good but it’s realistic

Pies can have our pick 34 for Grundy. He’s not worth anything more than that IMHO.

The pick we used to get Max 😉

GCS will after the Rankine trade:  Adelaide's first and their own:  #5 and # 7.  However, there is some noise that Crows don't want to deal #5 so playing hard ball as they did with the Swans for Dawson and Swans had to accept what at the time appeared to be 'unders'.

So GCS's two top 10 picks are better than GWS's bundle of first rounds, which are unlikely to include a top 10 pick.

Still remains as to  whether GCS want pick 2 to secure a player that they miss out by #5. Do we risk loosing Cadman by waiting for Pick 5->6?

I think GWS would target Cadman as their KPF stocks are shot.

Cadman could go at #2, given he is the only quality KPF in the draft, if a team really wants him, pick #2 is not a big reach for him.

I wonder if MFC has set its sights on Cadman in the way that DL has?

DL logic:   We need a tall fwd + Cadman is a tall fwd = Lets get Cadman.

I know nothing about Cadman and don't doubt his worth but maybe the Club has other priorities.  Just saying.

So I have an open mind on how we might use the draft picks we get for Jackson eg we may prefer two picks in the 9-12 range than pick 2 or pick 3.

See, I said I know nothing about him 🙂

My read of DL was folks see him as the answer to our 'tall' fwd woes.  So if Cadman isn't a replacement in a year or two for BBrown and we have JVR of Cadman's size what is the attraction of Cadman?

He's 196cm according to the man himself from the road to the draft podcast he featured on. Probably still growing as an 18yr old.

Cal Twomey's latest:

But now the Demons will be locked in trade talks. If he chooses Fremantle the reigning premiers would be expected to target two first-round picks for Jackson, including a very early selection this year inside the top-10.

The Dockers hold pick 13 in this year's draft, but could look to move up the draft board using other selections, with the club bracing for trade requests from Rory Lobb, Blake Acres and Darcy Tucker, with Griffin Logue also considering a move to Victoria.

West Coast holds picks No.2, 20 and 26 this year but as AFL.com.au reported in May, would need AFL approval to trade its first pick under League rules. The AFL would be expected to tick that off given Jackson’s age and experience.  However, the Eagles look set to protect their strong draft hand this year, with pick No.2 not considered likely to be part of a trade package to attempt to land Jackson.

Looks like Freo but it will take some time for them to get their trade package sorted.

So now we wait.  It will be a long month!

He's drawn comparisons to Cameron with his aerobic ability, and footskills to go along with his contested marking and goal kicking.  Haven't seen him live so have no idea how realistic those comparisons are.

i can see the comparison to cameron from his highlights, got great basics

looks like though he would need another 1 or more years development before the seniors (but you never know)

We have one developing tall in JVR. I think that's enough. We need a proven KPF imv. That's where I'd like to spend our draft capital

It seems likely Cadman will be an answer to the TMac type forward that gets up the ground and allows a Brown-type to play deep.

Isn't that JVR's role?

Wouldn't we be better off chasing a BBrown type forward rather than Cadman?

cadman seems an interesting prospect

but if we are losing jackson, i want highly talented mids not a key forward per se

our midfield depth, skill, and lack of rotations is as big an issue and part of the reason why we have had inability to convert opportunities in the back half of this season

Need a top 5 pick. Don't want to miss out on Cadman

Subtle!

One of your best posts.  🙂

The money deal for Jackson at either WA clubs could well be a big factor

e.g. 7 years @ X amount vs 5 years @ X amount could be the play

And the total amount of $$$$'s could be different as well.  $$$$'s per year being another factor

So any trade might have to be dependant on how much money will be coming LJ's way

If one team drops out we might know the reason why

And the bidding war could be short lived
