One of their young flag players has prematurely retired - Metropole?

Nic Nat only a season or two.
Darling yet to front up.
Kennedy - final year?

Is Hurn still playing?

MFCSS

Exactly they'll be [censored] for a while, why would he go there?

I love Dogga and think he's absolutely one of the top young prospects in the competition. While I think he'll probably stay for at least 2 more years, it actually wouldn't be the end of the world if he left.

He'd require two top ten picks, which is a bounty that would either put us in pole position to land Ben King (if it's this year). Or give the best recruiting manager in the country 2 cracks at finding elite talent. Neither of those scenarios is concerning (though I'd love to see dogga in the red and blue of course).

It's just so good to finally feel like the best club and not be adversely affected if a young gun leaves.

Smoke and mirrors. He will sign 3-4 years. The one I am a little concerned about is Clarry only signing on for another 2. I have said it before I would have signed him on for the time that we signed Viney on for and signed Viney on for 2.

Clarry signed on for two years extra (2023) at the same age as Trac signed on for two years extra. The next year (2021) Trac signed on for 7 more after already being contracted for the 2022 season anyway. Don’t be surprised if Oliver gets a 6-7 year extension this year early in 2022 even though he’s already contracted until the end of 2023. It’s all salary cap management at the end of the day. Clarry and Dogga are priorities.

Yeah, two top ten picks and a prime steak not steak knives minimum.

Completely disagree DM

To lose one  of your players you st RV building a dynasty and to be ready to take over from Maxy roiled be hard to take.
One crazy Demonlander ( he will know who he is/was) posted a similar sentiment after we lost a game in 2020 ( or it may have been 2019) saying we round get XXX on the trade for Clarry.

As events have proved there is only ONE Clarry and he is so special he just may be our greatest player ever ( if Trac doesn't claim it). Some players are harder to replace than others and we know why. No one comes near their best and they are match winners! They take over games and NO ONE can challenge them. Eg The Granny.

Yes Clarry has solved his issues with handball and disposal etc. and is now the elite player who he always  looked he would become. Maximum impact and ferocious attack on the ball with an over the top attitude NOT TO LOSE.

He often goes his hardest in the last quarter but to be fair it's all the time.

So saying 2 picks will replace Dogga is far too simplistic he is special and a champion who wins games already with his unique competitive style Great ball skills and pace that 199cm players don't have and his team first attitude plus he rarely if ever fumbles.

We don't know how it will be if we have to replace Dogga ( like Clarry) but you don't know how valuable he is until you don't have him!!

Thats why Eagles were bloody lucky they got Josh Kennedy for Judd but that's rare rather than the norm.

He never said 2 first round picks would replace him.

He said that it's pretty much a starting point if Jackson decided to eventually go back to WA.

Draft picks aren't guaranteed in becoming a success but every player has a starting price.

Following on from what @Deez Man said I agree with him regarding Jason Taylor. You'd easily back him to unearth another Pickett and Jackson if we dod net two 1st round picks. That gives me comfort.

In all of that, I doubt Jackson is leaving anything soon.

And if Eagles were on the bottom  it could be a disaster.

He and Clarry are major priority signings and the club absolutely knows that.

I hope Jacko truly is not homesick, as that will be the major reason he would leave. Having 6 or so, fellow WA teammates at the Dees won’t hurt.

We could find the salary cap room for him if needed.

Chill guys, Jacko ain’t going anywhere for at least 2 years.

If he did indicate he wanted to go home, a prudent agent would advise him to do two more years in Melbourne, get another flag, spend 2 more years developing with the games best ruckman and two of the best mids, then watch your value skyrocket.

I think the whole homesick thing is petty overplayed these days. I actually think he’ll be a 1 club player.

DD he said " he'd require two top ten picks " and I'm my world that means exactly what I have understood .

Apparently there is something in that that makes that mean something else  to you?

Not  querying JT nor underestimating Jim in any way but thsts not the argument.

I was likening a D/Lander previously writing Clarry in a similar vain and our Flag proved don't underestimate how good our players are. Dogga is a great talent and I don't think he is going anywhere soon ( yet) as he openly speaks so highly of Maxy and the Club.

His team ethic is fantastic and loves the boys snd wii relish the WA boys just joining us.

I believe a realistic payment and contract extension will be sorted.

Clarry maybe also this year if possible.

We are growing as a Club towards the best we can be each decision that is made.

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention.
