His exit left a bad taste  ie his total drop in form after agreeing mid season to leave and then his stark lack of recognition and gratitude for the dees. So… I no longer hope he does deliver. Personally  I hope we thrash them in a final soon preferably  a GF and he recognises the strength of what he left.

I also hope we thrash Freo but I have no ill will toward Jackson.  I'm indifferent.  And I wouldn't like to see him becoming a whipping boy for Freo fans if he doesn't live up to his contract and the hype.

He wasn't the only player that didn't give his all this season.  Goodwin said as much after the first semi.

I see him as an immature, not too bright 21 year old.  Having said that I am surprised his manager or someone else didn't ghost write a decent 'thank you' message for him for mfc and its fans.   Sam Weideman set a fine example in that regard.

I'd rather they don't make the finals, if they do let it be bottom 4 of the 8 and out the first week.

No ill will towards Luke but i hope Freo tank next year cos we have their first pick. A bottom 4 finish for them would be great

His Manager threw him to the wolves. What does Luke get fro his 4% or whatever the Management fee is these days.

Nothing much by the look of it.

I'd do a Buddy and leave his manager that did the deal and find someone more suitable to him at his time of life.

Great riposte here . I couldn't figure out how to build his Mum into the comment. Thanks.

Buy seriously he was left to his own devices with zero forethought or prep.  Where is he getting advice from I wonder?

Does anyone know who Manager is ?????    just out of interest?

Been rifling through this thread, trying to take stock. I see we've got up to page 303 (we'd be shooting through the cartridges if this were printed out for a magazine!) So, time to look down the barrel (we seem to be in a spiral here anyway) of giving it the bullet?

I've already seen myself out. And it's sunny at last, btw...

"The Gospel of Luke", deary me.

If The West Australian had only consulted the wordsmiths of Demonland (and tapped into the rollercoaster of emotions screaming out on every page of this voluminous thread) , I'm sure they could have come up with a more memorable headline.

How about "The Gospel of Puke"?

Ok, that was childish.

What about "Dees bent over, Dogga-style"?

Too risqué? (Sorry to all the missionaries out there.)

Or any one of the following:

  • Way to go, Luke, as Dees’ hearts bleat poo
  • Every Dogga has his (pay)day
  • Lukewarm Dee docks, grins then sinks in Freo Harbour with ship full of gold
  • The Jackson 7: monster deal has Luke singing “I’ll be there”
  • The Bell tolls for Dee: behind the secret mid-season meeting (with diminutive, cloaked man in bar) that brought Luke home
  • Mum’s the word: young star unable to articulate reasons of move

Ok, perhaps not.

Maybe "The Gospel of Luke" ain't so bad after all.

I'll see myself out.

Dogga will be under the most pressure of any footballer in the State of WA. And they are pretty feral when it comes to under-performance.

He is in for a torrid ride

Thanks LH I have been scanning the pages looking for something that LJ wrote acknowledging his time at MFC his teammates, coaches, fitness staff, boot studders, haven’t been able to find anything not even an acknowledgement of the kind words spoken by Kate Roffe. Jeezuz Luke where’s the manners young man I am Sure that the Brayshaws and personal sponsors would be disappointed, hell I am disappointed and I don’t even know you. That is my final word on LJ.

I’m sure Luke will acknowledge the MFC once he unlatches from his Mother’s teat.

Are you serious?

He got him back home, to the club he followed and wanted to play for and $7m approx, over the next 7 years.

You're right about Footywire, usually bang on

Just had a look. They have jaeger on there for 2023 but he definitely signed a 4 year deal.

I wonder if they're not making it public because of the scrutiny. Seems very weird to lure over such a high profile, expensive recruit and not know how many years its for. And when they asked him during his press conference and he deflected it onto his management. Just seems very strange.

Yeah that one is certainly a blind spot.

Fair comment but Its just that I believe the a player's managare, esp for a 21 year old should be providing professional services holistically to help the young lad develop.  he was set up to fail in this case.

A drovers dog could have got Luke's deal done given the circumstances. The easiest cash he will have earned off Luke for some time.

Juxtaposed with Liam Pickering's fantastic effort for Buddy years ago - even though Buddy let him go afterwards.

Mockingly (probably unintentionally because I doubt he thought about how it would look) in a Dockers jumper.

Could have posted any number of photos of him with the Premiership cup when he thanked the club with his one line.

I thank him for his time but do not wish him well. He is now the enemy and whilst I will not boo him I do hope he gets roughed up a bit and that he earns every dollar he gets.

Feel for him, the pressure is going to be immense. Easy when the whole team is playing well, harder when you are the highest paid player and have to perform each week.

I am hoping the pressure gets too much over there and he requests a trade back to the MFC in 3-4 years time.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
