$12 M for 8 years...

I think that would be the highest ever

Buddy was around $10M for 9 years

Not impossible if you punt on a 30-50% uplift in the slary cap over the next 8-10 years.

Won't happen this time around but in 2 years.. who knows

If he does end up dominating the competition that price could look cheap in 8 years.

I reckon it should be 15 million for 9 years!!

Do I hear $20 million for 10 years, the bid is with you?

Josh obviously thinks Jacko is so versatile he can play about 4 positions on the ground simultaneously

He will have to because at this rate we can't afford to field another 21 players

No, but I’d go $10m for 20 years 🤪

I think 'Josh' honestly needs to take the bus from now on. It looks like a take from a 10 y.o

The Media must be so peed off with how good this bloody team is, never heard such a bunch of wingers.

Haven’t read all comments so apologies if I’m repeating what has already been posted.  Obviously Jacko could  potentially be one of the greats and there will be a lot of interest in him from other clubs and no doubt some big dollars being dangled.

On one hand a footy career in the scheme of things is for a relatively short span of time so I totally get it and don’t begrudge anyone trying to chase and get the big dollars when it is on offer.

On the other hand, I hope that some of the current MFC new found culture and values shine through in the negotiations.  Hope Jacko stays and they pay him well (hopefully he accepts less than what others will offer) so that we have dollars left within the salary cap to keep other existing players / fund new talent in coming years. Something along the lines of what I think occurred at Geelong some years ago.

Wouldn’t it be nice in many years to come that when he retired from the Dees he would not only be fairly rich ( but not as rich as he could have been) but more importantly been part of a most successful era winning several flags along the journey.  What price do you put on a flag?

Also Jacko would know deep down that the ‘price he paid’  very much helped the club retain / gain new players over the years that ultimately contributed to the club’s success.  That is how dynasties are created by everyone at the MFC actually walking the talk and actually living and breathing the club’s new found values.   What a legacy that would be.  Fingers crossed and GO DEES!!!

Is Josh the new Cornes? Saying stupid things to get attention knowing he’ll never be held accountable

I don’t think Jacko is at Buddy level just yet thanks. Maybe when he is 24 he could sign a mega deal. Just look at the mega deal Grundy signed when he looked unstoppable. He’s been Just average/good since signing

too risky to sign a kid on a 10 year deal. Even someone as gifted as LJ

Over his lifetime he will probably earn more off field than on.

Without doubt. Especially after he discovers the new planets he is passionate about.

Probably he’s working for Hutchy.

In all seriousness though, i would hope we start hearing more regular positive news with Luke. I know people will say it will happen, but we dont want this going well into the last part of teh season and even finals and not have him signed up. I assume he will and have no real fear of him leaving, but getting confirmation will be nice.

Getting a flag this year would be nice. If we want Jackson then let’s play for him. Winning two flags in a row, and being a part of a young dynasty list, it’s hard to pass up.

That is why as a side issue, I want the Eagles to improve and finish mid ladder, so there is absolutely no risk of a pre season draft issue.

Yeah I agree, sadly Nic Nat injury will heighten speculation as well..

Scenario.... Jacko goes to WC, First night training, hey this bloke left at drop of hat, so he is here for the money nothing else....not good look.
