Mentioned this a few years ago ... So the day after he was drafted, the top picks were paraded to media just across from AFL House at the Docklands. While working near by, and in between his interviews, l managed to introduce myself before he realised l wasn't a journo but was more than happy to chat to a dees supporter. Very genuine, he was super excited to be joining MFC and we agreed that he was a great fit as we needed ruck / forward support for Max and that he would learn alot under him. He also wasn't fussed about moving to Melbourne as he had been here before many times for basketball and football rep games and was expecting to leave WA anyway - which pleased me the most. Suspect he was also relieved not to be picked up by Gold Coast or GWS with their early picks

Maybe I just thought demonlanders would like even more confirmation from inside the club? Seems to be the case doesn’t it? I don’t know what Gary Lyon said, only what what’s being said within the club. Would of thought the more people posting what they know from contacts inside the club the better.

Cool your jets. Garry literally called in to his own radio show and mentioned that he spoke to Jackson’s parents and they said they were coming over to Melbourne to live and he said “maybe not right now” coz there’s a pandemic on. That’s it. End of story. Film it. Show it every Christmas.

Must be in for a big payday. Property in Melbourne is a complete joke at the moment. Can't buy a toilet for less than half a million.

Great news though!

Thats shizzen news

Who would have thunk it.

Here we are worried about a young star going home interstate and guess what, he brings home to melbourne instead.

To see Lukes mum absolutely ecstatic and dressed in complete red and blue says volumes.

Just between you and me I think Luke may have told his mum what a great place the MFC is at the moment.

How the heck did we do that?

It's called winning a flag :)

Don't want to be a party pooper, but honestly, I don't get too excited about the length of these signings these days, because anything further than 2 years out is almost meaningless.  All signing him up beyond 2022 will acheive right now is to reduce some of the media chatter and speculation early next season.  Come 2023 or even late 2022, if things arn't looking rosy for any of the respective parties and the talk will start again.  As seen with Bobby Hill, Lobbe and Lauchie Neil and closer to home, Jessy Hogan, players are increasingly requesting trades inside their contacted period.

About the only thing having them contracted does is give the club slightly better leverage for extracting a reasonable trade in the instance they want out.

Best way of retaining Dogga is keep winning and keep him happy.  I think Dogga is also shrewd in recognising the value of playing with and learning from Max over the next few years.  All these things should be a win/win for the MFC and the individuals involved, so I put more weight on that than any contract that's announced.

Any news or spec here on Dogga’s updated contract?

Yeap his management has slipped in a “dentistry” clause into the contract, cheeky devils. They’ve asked for lifetime dental care.

I say yepphhs to it.

Yep. Was once again the underbidder of a busted up old  bidet on a couple of square feet of earth a few clicks from the CBD.

It ain't pretty out there. At least I've got the gf replay to drown out all my sorrows.

But I'd mortgage the kids if I could  and send the club a cheque if it meant keeping Kozzie and Jackson. Worth every quid.

The poster who insisted he should be traded hasn't been heard from in a while. I can't remember his name

It is amazing the exodus of these people once we got to the mountain top.

Pretty much confirming they were trolls.

You’re right. I have been spending a lot more time on demonland since the flag. It is definitely in part due to just wanting to share the joy with other supporters, but it is also just much nicer to be here without all the fierce negativity and criticism.

If they were just trolls…good riddance, if they were genuine supporters, I hope they can reinvent themselves with a more positive outlook and enjoy this fantastic time. I’m hoping for a dynasty but you can’t take anything for granted so we need to revel in what we have right  now.

I think they’d be happier at Saintsational ruining that place. I would welcome Schwab and Neeld back (I would do it today btw) before I would welcome back DrD and the other deadenders. They only come here to get a rise out of posters.

Anyone who was a Demon supporter would be on here sharing the joy, they obviously are not.

I hear that he wants to sign with Freo for 10 years so he can hang around Cam McCarthy.

I'll  never forget some of the expressions on his face, along with the eloquent words, during THE GAME..

Apparently Peter Bell contacted us to see if we'd be interested in trading him for their first round pick for the next ten years. You gotta admit, pick two every year is pretty inviting.

Just to add on to this, I’ve got firm mail from inside the club telling me a long contract will be made public next week. Apparently Dogga’s agent is also Jordan Clark’s, so he’s been pretty busy sorting out his contract first.
I only made my demonland account this year, but I was going to do it around this time last year (but couldn’t be bothered in the end) as my same source told me Hannan was out the door about a week before anyone in the media or demonland had a sniff of it. My mate doesn’t give me much mail, but when he does it’s very solid.
Just to actually add on to that, it was less of Hannan really wanting to leave, and more toward Goody just not really rating him.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
