I was just thinking this morning how fast the world has moved on from the GF and this article popped into my feed.

https://www.theroar.com.au/2021/10/01/relentless-thirst-for-trade-gossip-robbed-demons-and-fans-chance-to-drink-in-legendary-gf-triumph/

Describes my thoughts exactly. Trade talk has taken over and our victory is old news already. There are so many great stories to tell (the writer is right about Ron Barassi โ€“ would love to see and hear his response to our win). I wish someone told these stories

Anyways, I would have liked the focus to stay on us a while longer yet. Canโ€™t wait to Rd1 next year to see the flag unfurled.

Trade articles gain more traction than any other form of AFL piece apparentlyย

One reason might be that trade discussions pique the interest of supporters of all 18 teams. Talking incessantly about Melbourne's victory appeals to supporters of one club only.

I for one havenโ€™t moved on.ย
Not planning to any time soon.ย

I for one have not and will not move on for several months. Even then I wonโ€™t reallyย have moved on.ย The rest of the world can please themselves.

They've turned the lights on at the nightclub and we just want to keep partying

Someone can do three trades in 31 seconds

Na that is Brandon Smith and the Storm lads...

This is one of the reasons why I became a lifetime subscriber to Demonland after the weekend. I have waited a lifetime to enjoy this, so Iโ€™ll come here and do it!

Support the Demonland folks and get on board. Literally all of my favourite supporter moments of our premiership year have been on here.ย

Other teams move on. We still have many stories to digest.ย
I hope the club produces a Book in time that gives us the reactions of past players and long time suffering Members.ย

Maybe it is a silver lining to the game itself being in Perth. We will have full license and good cause to go nuts celebration in the preseason (fans only of course) and to really lose our minds in round 1.

I still have GF fever and will for some time, let us all enjoy the moment and let the masses enjoy their trade weeks.๐Ÿ˜Š

I tell you who should produce a book - Demonland.ย  Have all the game previews and match summaries for the year.ย  Proceeds to running the site and to player sponsors or whatever.

Not a bad idea at all

Has anyone come across news suggesting Carlton Draught will release premiership cans like they did last year for the tigers?ย

Strangely Dan Murphy's is showing the Tigers can as the 2021 premiers:ย

Out of stock though of course.ย

ย

I look at this differently by looking at it through the eyes of the opposition.

6 to 7 years ago, this was the only part of the year we could hold on to. Threads about which callow and inexperienced teenage recruit, out of favor veteran or superstar Victorian wanting to come home (though I do remember someone guaranteeing at one stage that Nat Fyfe wanted to come to the Demonsย ๐Ÿ™„) we could lure through our doors started roughly in late July to mid August.

The reality of us not having to make too many moves even now (though we will need to be smart and strategic as our spine is getting on the wrong side of 30) is an amazing way of reinforcing the rarified air we are now in.ย

I think the week off before the Grand Final made the rest of the footy world even more keen to move on.ย  All the 'stories' came out then, everyone one else has MFC and Doggies fatigue and it's time to move on.

Also, because the team stayed in Perth, to a certain degree they have been less accessible.

Frankly, I donโ€™t need the media or anyone else pumping up our club.ย

As mentioned in the article, other ย club supporters et al are not interested. Just as we were not interested in the Tigers and all the other GF winners. It pisses you off, and is best avoided.ย

Be satisfied that our victory and the journey to it, is etched in our memory, psyche and every bone and tissue of our fabric.ย

We will not forget it. No one can take it away or the imposing manner that we won. In 2021, we crushed our opponents in the most remarkable way.ย

It is etched now in the history of the club and AFL footy.ย

Whatever happens in the future, 2021 is there, ย rock solid in our being.ย

Lets move forward to the next goal, renaming positive, joyful and humble.ย

But for 2021, we will forever remain The Champions.ย

And Demon tragics are no longer long suffering but now forever joyful and full of love for our club.ย

Thats because they offer some hope for the 17 teams that lost

The MFC.ย

In 2022, there will be changes. Players come and go.ย

Our 2021 team are part of history.ย

Despite our individual champions, what we learnt in 2021 is that it is all about the club. The players and coaches showed the way.ย

We will be pleased and disappointed with contracts and trades. However, after 2021, I will be loathed to criticise players or the club for decisions made. How wrong so many of us have been regarding these issues. From player selection to coaches. ย Decisions have been made that have benefited the club and led to a flag.ย

We canโ€™t ask for me.ย

It has meant that rather than dwell in the mire of negativity, we can look at our better side and feel better about our club and ourselves.ย

Is it too soon for the Jake Bowey autobiography? The title is obvious: "100% success".

ย

Every time we play next season our win will be discussed, we are now the benchmark. Even in games weโ€™re not playing in, other teams will be compared to us.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... itโ€™s time to discuss this weekโ€™s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliverโ€™s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line โ€ฆ Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
