Great story. He has really been a great addition to the team, ahead of time.  He got his chance and hasn’t looked back.

The question is, will he keep Hunt out of the team?  I like the young bloke but Hunty has that X factor and capable of breaking lines. I'm glad its not my choice.

There is no way he is getting dropped for Hunt for the GF, Bowey was amazing in the Prelim especially early in the game.  If Hunt comes in it will be for Hibberd but I can't see that happening for balance

Bowey has done everything right so far. If the team trust him, he can’t be dropped.

Great work again by Jason taylor. Like James Jordan, from Day 1 he looks like he belongs. 

Huge successful era coming up - if not already arrived and we just don't know it yet.

Given what he’s done as an 18 year old, the sky is the limit for Bowser.  Already plays like a 100 gamer.  One of those uncommon youngsters who ‘just has it’, and ‘it’ was apparent from day one.

Anybody know him in his junior years and where he thrived? I like him at half back, but i wonder if he can be used elsewhere as he develops some size and the engine. 

The obvious is we use him similar to Caleb Daniels or Daniel Rich to be the play maker, but we already have Salem and probably don't need two of the same role. Not say we try anything new next week, but would be keen to see him play high half forward and used more as an attacking weapon, particularly given the history of F50 connection we have had. 

Win or lose (Hopefully win of course) one feels the next 3-4 years will be big. Jordan, Bowser, Jackson, Pickett, Rivers, Sparrow, Spargo are all young up comers and playing in a GF. 33% of the team on the field will be no older than 21-22. Quite amazing. 

This week off has been good but geez next week will be a killer. The prelim lead up was hard enough!

Completely disagree with this. Providing he maintains good contested work, he's a perfect addition alongside Salem. You've got to stop both of them.

Given where we've come from, having good ball users everywhere is quite an incredible defensive build. Lever, May, Petty, Salem, Bowey, Rivers and Hibberd are all reliable kicks. Such a change.

Feel for Hunt having played 21 games this year....

As for Bowey, great article. Can't believe he is 8cm TALLER than his dad!!

 

I usually read quite a few phantom drafts by the Bigfooty draft watchers, and it was interesting to see that last year the large majority had him projected in the 40's. I only saw one where he was noted to go in the 20's.

Further on this point, Salem plays a sweeper role, whereas Bowey can sweep, but usually uses his leg speed to break away off half back. He usually takes hand ball receives.

Bowey also adds legspeed to our back 6/7 that we miss without Hunt, but provides elite ball use and decision-making. 

I really think Hunt could be on the outer from here onwards.

Hunt gives are pure speed off half back and offers another way to move the ball out of the defensive half. We are quick to forget his form prior to his injury. His ability to break the lines and open the game up was second to none. He was also a great lockdown defender who can play on the oppositions faster small / medium forwards. We all know he lacks in disposal efficiency and at times has made some poor decisions, but i think as an overall package he is in the 22. His year has been above expectations and has shown great improvement.

I like the balance of having two different types of HB flankers as it offers something different in terms of rebound and back half transitions options. This is why we should experiment with Bowey further up the ground where we can benefit from his exceptional ball and decision making to further improve our forward 50 connection. At the end of the day, this is where ball use really matters as it translates to score involvements. 

I would have thought Hunt is the natural successor to Hibberd next year, and would currently be in the side ahead of him, barring injury.

A player that is suspect in disposal efficiency is a liability in finals. 
Bowey has looked excellent kicking to position and I wouldn’t call him slow. 
Yes i feel for Hunt, but Bowey has taken his opportunity the same way that Sam Weiderman didn’t.
